Why does every single chat feel so neutered and sterile now? Regardless of the streamer, it seems like the chat will just be "hi" and "lol" and emojis 90% and nobody tries to actually talk to the streamer or anyone else. It makes it so the streamer can never read the few messages that they could actually respond to because the chat is going lightning speed with this kind of spam. Are they bots??

Chat goes full retard quickly after you reach 5-10k viewers. That's the point of no return where chat moves too fast for them to have meaningful conversation with any of them. People that would normally write thoughtful messages get discouraged when their message gets drowned out by hundreds of other short messages and emote spam. This is made worse because Slow Mode doesn't affect members on YouTube. If you could only type one message every minute you might make it more worthwhile than "lol". The bigger the streamer, the faster the chat. If the chat is too fast, it is very unlikely that your comment will get read, so there is no point in trying to post an actual comment. This happens with every streamer, not just vtubers. As they get bigger, their chats become emote spam and simple words.

If you want conversations with others you can do it on pre-stream chats. There are some holos that are against constant chat conversations and others don't mind it, it's a case by case scenario.
Usually only on zatsudan streams conversations with chat is normal. For normal gaming streams, conversations are avoided for respect to the Holos against backseating or being off topic. There are rules against it depending on the talent.
I understand /vt/ can't understand this concept named respect, but there are many other vtubers you can go to vent your frustrations.
