i'm severely emotionally attached to my oshi. when it's been a while without a stream i get lonely, i look forward to new tweets (i also i instant like+rt), and i even get sad when i see comments from antis (i know better than to reply to them though). i'm far from going bankrupt but i've been a member as soon as my financial situation allowed it, and outside of rent/groceries most of my money goes into superchat, merch and voice packs. i'm very serious about actively participating in chat/comments as well as replying to tweets when it's appropriate.

I think you could benefit from allotting only a few hours of the day to catch up with oshi tweets and streams, and outside those hours, not to access anything related to your oshi. Since you're going into uni I assume you're young (i.e. 18, don't break any rules) and I have to say the first year is pretty important. If you tank your grades, your GPA will be playing catch up until the end. You're also getting more freedom and that means way more time to watch oshi streams and fuck around and it's up to you to discipline yourself. If vtubers existed when I was in uni I would struggle to balance fun time with work time.
Good idea to start your scheduled time habits now before class starts, just decrease the time little by little

Just speaking from experience the time ban helped me since I have a 9 to 5 and would be opening streams at work or taking the day off for events, and being less exposed to info made my obsession lessen. I still love my oshi but I'm not wringing my hands over missed streams or feeling overly synced with emotions, and things like paid events have timeshift so I can watch whenever I want and not have to attend shitty NND livestreams.

I don't enjoy watching bigger vtubers live as much as I used to, I gave smaller channels a shot and it's more fun since you can actually interact with the streamer and keep up with conversations in chat, bigger channels feel like you're screaming into the void when you try to use the chat. What's the point of watching live instead of vods if you can't do anything with the chuuba?

I felt incredibly devastated when Shiki Miyoshino said she won't be going to 4chan any more and that she hard-blocked the website. I noticed she picked up a lot of her "based" demeanour from this website (like unapologetically telling people to 'do a flip') which is what people love her for. Some of the retards on her chat were incredibly fucking cringe forcing her to become a redditor, after realising she doesn't even go there. They already apologised for it but still. I really love how Shiki constantly looked for good criticism from this website and it helped not only her, but also her company. I don't want her seeking validation from other websites like reddit and consigning herself to their garbage hivemind culture. Call me a schizo but I think this would impact her hard in the long run, especially when making crucial decisions. I respect her decision and her feelings about hard-blocking this site, but it just makes me sad.
