Aussie hours are always slow almost every day. Tuesdays used to be the most active, but that somehow moved to Wednesdays. Days like today aren't actually that common. I think most chuubas do actually take Sundays off. There's never actually a time where nobody is streaming, but generally the times from 4-14 EST are pretty quiet, then everyone goes live at the same time.

1) If there's some evidence of improvement, even "babby's first attempt at genre" is genuinely enjoyable. Its when no improvements are manifesting and its pure brickwall that switching off becomes tempting.
2) Prior answer still holds even if it's something I'm personally more attached to myself. There's something magical about those small victories piling up into greater victories in a game you enjoy yourself, in someone who's struggling but succeeding.
3) For actual game numbers, probably more. However, there's definitely strength in making a cohesive theme of one or two genres or categories of game, or at least sticking with a long running series of streams on a single game until it's over. Having a streamer touch a variety of genres, however, often allows for additional facets of their streaming flavor to manifest, or previously hidden (possibly even to themselves) talents to be revealed, and that's also enjoyable.
4) Minor gripes aside, probably. It's been rough recently, but overall it's not enough to make me too sad.

mm, a lot of streamers i watch haven't played the games that i have. used to be in the top 10 leaderboard for hawken but that's a dead game these days

it depends highly on what game it is. with story-based games, consecutive streams are ideal because both the streamer and the viewer have to recap on what they had been doing previously.

1. I don't mind as long as they genuinely enjoy it or are actually trying to get better instead of throwing for content
2. Similar to the above. If they're having fun, I'm having fun. The only thing I can't watch is when streamers shit on a game poorly, like complaining about a system being bad when it's actually a "them" problem or they're just not paying attention.
3. Between the two, I like variety a little more, and it's fun watching the learning process.
4. I had a pretty good day today, and a good start to the long weekend. I'd say I'm pretty happy right now.

Do you worry about your own skill much? I'm loathe to admit that I haven't watched you very often, or for very long, but I understand that you come from a casual gaming or literature background.
Are there games you wanted to stream or play with others but stopped yourself from doing because you're worried that people will judge your skill? If so, you should do it anyway. I think it'd be a lot of fun to watch!

2. Some games are painful to watch if you're bad at it. It depends a lot upon the streamer to put on a show of making the blunders amusing. There are some games out there that make stumbling and failing as amusing to watch, like that one co op game about old people escaping from a retirement home.

I don't think it's integral but it's a substantive addition

It can add a whole added source of entertainment for the audience, but I think as a whole it's not necessary because not everyone wants to watch a character sometimes they want someone to hang with like normal.

I don't think the issue is strong kayfabe per se but annoying keyfabe and not turning it off when you really should. I think if someone wants their character to be a major part of it then yes they shouldn't step out of that, but really that comes down to what expectations the vtuber set for their viewers and if they live up to them.

Easy answer is Kongou, I love how he builds upon it with the yokai and such.

I love how Kiara tries to stay in character often so her kayfabe isn't always weak but it's not particularly strong so the way she grabs my attention is with her energy. Still when she is being more character it's cool how she works with her fanbase to incorporate aspects like the whole Usual Room joke and recently her cooking streams wearing the same live2d outfit IRL.

I want people to have fun with it so my ideal is what brings out the most passion from the streamer. Personally I wish I could come up with ways to do more with my kayfabe but as it stands I don't hate how little I do either.

It's not like it takes a lot of time to be a vtuber. Throw on the model and play games for a few hours, make some chuuba friends, etc. I like to think I'm a pretty sociable person so "networking reps" are just me chatting with other chuubas I like and if it clicks we're friends.

3)strong kayfabe isn't distracting but ill fitting (such as a fat slob trying to be a gymbro and vics versa) can be really bad

Technically not necessary, but since everyone's model portrays each streamer as something they're usually not I suppose it's fun to play a role. I may disagree with how deeply or seriously the keyfabe is taken, but there's nothing wrong with adding some flavor.

Sort of preemptively answered this in 1. It's more fun to stream with a model that isn't just the streamer in 2D form, might as well take the extra step to invent a character around the model and play it out. I don't think lore videos are necessary though, and I usually refrain from watching them. Keyfabe is only really relevant to me by how they determine the flow and tone of the streams.

I'm happy enough with just swapping out words and themes rather than recreating a backstory that needs to be maintained. I enjoy listening to a streamer talk about their past experiences. It's probably troublesome and not really interesting if a streamer has to make up a story on the spot just to stay consistent.

Kizuna Ai is still the best at this. She sold her keyfabe so well people believed it. This may have come with drawbacks like listing the person behind her as a "voice provider" which still confuses people, but I still really enjoy how she plays up her role in interviews and live performances.

Kitanya, actually. She doesn't have much of a keyfabe at all other than being a cat. I suppose she can get away with it because her life is apparently wild enough that she doesn't actually need one. She also just has the perfect natural chaotic catgirl personality that carries her streams.

Just for flavor to be honest. Charlotte talking about her home as a bear cave and her bear family is enough. The way you handle it is pretty good too. Your time machine karaoke stream was amazing and fun too. It's really just something to play around with to make streams more fun, not something to take very seriously.

Not in all cases.

Firstly, it helps keep opsec in cases where the streamer doesn't want their real identity known. Many chuubas at least implement a light amount of keyfabe like a different name while not really exploiting roleplay or lore. Secondly, if the chuuba wishes to utilize roleplay or lore, then it's a great way of indicating that the chuuba focuses on a specific type of content. Take spacer for instance, who's combo of space delivery man character with mostly sci-fi content often caused the audience to play along with his keyfabe.

That's highly dependent on the particular streamer. It'd be weird, for example, for kot to go really hard on her keyfabe one day when a lot of the topics she brings up mention her IRL history. Conversely, it'd be weird for Corpse to suddenly talk about getting weird looks at a store or something when her landlord is supposed to be who's doing most of her stuff for her. In short, if you do one, just don't do the other.

It's gotta be Spacer. The lore and personal stories he set upalways fascinated me, on top of just being able to talk about heady sci-fi topics with him.

People like Kitanya or Margo don't really have a strong keyfabe but exude excellent talking skills. The appeal there isn't that different from normal streamers then, but them having anime-esque avatar advertises that you can talk about anime with them.

Depends on the character I guess. Beri or Hal can just be their character, and the kayfabe is just adding a little spice to their actual personality. Nemu has a whole wiki dedicated to lore and I'm all about it. Off the top of my head I can't think of any kayfabe i've seen thats a turn off.
