If I don't make stories and make prompts, I'm called a leech. If I contribute dozens of hours into making stories and ask for stories I'm "a prompt spammer". You can't win with these people. More than half of my stories are already prompts that I asked for but never got, so I decided to write them myself. The prompt archive is a mess, no one will ever really use it. There is no great mystery as to why prompts are not getting picked up. The fact is that they are usually just straight up dogshit. No one is out to get you, you are not getting cancelled and the frequency and variety of the prompts you post won't change the fact that they suck ass.

If you really want to game the system and ensure that your bad prompt gets taken up just write out your scenario and replace your chuuba with Fubuki, it will guaranteed 100% be written and usually within 24 hrs at that.

I never really understood this mindset. It's an outline...or something like it. Ultimately, you can fill in the blanks yourself. You can rework it as you wish. They're merely ideas - you don't need to follow a prompt beat for beat. If the prompt poster really gets assblasted over you taking some creative liberties, then they're always free to write it themselves. For example, this prompt is clearly No More Hags. That's fine, that's fun, that's the basic gist of the idea. How you want to go about it is ultimately up to you. So long as the core idea of the prompt is present, there shouldn't be anything to complain about.

Your setting is very unique and well-crafted - a rarity for the stories on this thread, at least as far as I've noticed. I also really liked the way you depicted the shift in the relationship between (You) and Fubuki. It felt natural, albeit a bit brief, but that was only because of the length of the overall story.

All in all, I greatly enjoyed your story. The one thing I would complain about is its length, as it seemed a bit short. But don't worry, that's just the thing with stories you've enjoyed - you wish they'd last longer.

Not him, but I did also remark on the setting. Most stories written are either at an apartment, at a school, or at an office. The feudal japan setting is more unique in that sense. In addition the writer did a good job establishing that there's a history to the world and the characters beyond just what we see in the story in a short time, whereas most other fics here go off the assumption that you know who the characters are and what they're like (which is usually the case, this isn't a dig at other stories.)

Well, do keep in mind that I've not read every story in the archive (a given, but I should mention it), but from the ones I've read, the setting is mostly generic, or if it isn't - not much attention is paid to it.

From the top off my head, HoloFantasy and Knight's Vows have worldbuilding within them, with the latter not really bothering to expand upon it that much and mostly using it as a plot device (in other words - explaining why Anon being attacked by goblins is something that is bound to happen and makes sense). Whereas in HoloFantasy the setting and the world are built upon more, since it's supposed to feel like an entirely different place and setting than what we're used to.
These are the two examples I could think of that involve any type of worldbuilding or setting emphasize off the top of my head, since the remaining ones (from the stories I've read) either take place in the modern, present day world or they just haven't bothered to expand on the setting, as it's not necessary for the plot.
One could argue that stories such as "Devilish Deeds" (the SFW one) or Cover High put an emphasis on a setting, but in this case said setting would be a high school. I have nothing against high school settings - in fact, I love them - it's just that there's usually little to take note of when the story is taking place within a high school. Unless it's Harry Potter or a power-fantasy anime series, high school is just a place where lots of other people go to and hijinks ensue every now and again. Not really a unique setting, but a setting nonetheless.
Then the rest of the stories just don't put an emphasis on the world at all - at most you get a house, some furnitures, an object to interact with and the characters. That's it. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind that, it's just for the sake of the argument.

I apologize if it seemed as if I was calling out any writeanons here - it was not my intention. I appreciate each and every one of you here who dedicates time and effort to write something, whether it'd be for fun or otherwise. I simply tried to elaborate on what did I mean when I said 'rarity' when it comes to settings. Whether you decide to dedicate a portion of your story to worldbuilding or not is entirely up to you. If your story needs it - go ham. If it doesn't - that's still fine, not all one-shots do.

All in all - well-crafted setting or not, an enjoyable story is an enjoyable story.

Only thing I could criticize is that the paragraphs of the fight scenes are way too long and that it would probably be a good idea to break them up. The fight scene itself was pretty good in my opinion, felt fast and tight which is really good.

Thank you very much for the kind words. I think Knight's Vow was a prompt fulfillment I ended up doing? I'm not sure I remember. I wanted there to be a reason for Noel still being a knight despite it being a more modern setting, and the rest was sort of established via the same means.
With Cover High, I've noticed that there is more an established setting with it, what with there being a sort of damage nullification field (if my memory serves) around the school. That kind of attention to the setting helps suck me into it. I feel that it helps immerse oneself - there's a reason why wacky stuff can happen, and there's consequences when it goes wrong. It stands out from the other high school based stories as a result (alongside great characterization, and a great use of the cast; I'm honestly jealous at how well the author can balance so many characters at times.)
That being said, I'm in full agreement that not every story needs a unique setting or great attention to world building; so long as the interactions are memorable and enjoyable, that's usually enough for me. The Aqua series by Matthewanon(?) for example usually takes place in fairly mundane environments (usually), but it was the character interaction that really helped it stand out. The more recent Marine fics - the horrible, awful Alzheimers ones - were based in bland hospital rooms, but it was secondary as the story was focused more on the interaction between Marine and (You).
