You guys are missing the point. The low average wage means cover only has to spend a very low amount to subsidise the character/talent (but still keeps the talent happy) while the channel builds it's audience. and once they start bringing in money, even if they only make $150 in superchats per stream, if 20 streams in a month get that they've made a profit on that channel and the talent is making a fair amount more than the average wage. If they have the occasional $500/$1k USD stream they just make even more.

In terms of middle class (i.e. in possession of disposable income for spacha and merch) and up wealth Singapore is easily the best in Southeast Asia, but it's not really a market worth breaking into in that every young Singaporean already understands English at a high level and even if you make it big the total size of the market is fairly small.
Indonesia in comparison doesn't have as many wealthy people (in terms of international spending power, lots of middle class Indonesians but the rupiah is so weak they can't send it overseas easily) but they do have an absolutely gigantic population already predisposed to watching weebshit and extremely low startup costs so even if they don't roll in money all of the Indonesian 2434 and Holo members are making a profit and the Japanese companies get to develop genuine brand loyalty in a population that is starting to taste real money for the first time.
