To add to the replies: while Hunter deals with not losing yourself to the abyss you're fighting, other books of the line have a different idea of "playing evil". Specifically Vampire, you kind of live by manipulating mortals and backstabbing so you don't get backstabbed. You can't get too close to the dark side of vampirism, of course, but half the fun is to be an asshole bloocsucker.
Other books offer ideas, like Mages losing themselves to the search for Power, the one that stands out is how Werewolf, who has heroically tragic Player Characters being outnumbered in their guardians of the spirit border duty, offers ways to play as supremacist wolfdudes with severe case of villainous shortsightness.

Ive been in a D&D 5e campaign for a few months now and just recently had my PC die during RP which lead to a funeral scene where several of the other players were straight up crying during it. Do you think this campaign could end up at that stage? Imagine down the line people becoming so attached to Watoto that the moment the wyrm decides to take his life and it actually happens that there is mass tears from around the scene. Imagine the meltdown on this board. It would be fantastic

That's what I'm waiting so hard, the fact that one of the characters is legit marked to get their soul exploded at any time the GM wants is so juicy for drama, Mori must've licked her chops when Ame made him cut the deal. When it happens, it's gonna be so good.

It hurt so much to hear. She didn't deserve it at all. Even worse that they overcame the 45-minute delay, it really made us think they were gonna pull it off.

Current mission for the thread: watch Ina's streams for when she answers the surge of SCs reminding her she forgot to update us on her character sheet. I sent one real quick, then like 3-4 others followed, the power of autism.

I used to hate Mori last year for being a cringy edgy wigger. Ever since this TTRPG shit started, I get it. She's grown on me a lot in the past months, my biggest change in opinion of everyone in the group by far.
She's slaving her ass away and still takes time to appreciate her friends. I saw her birthday message to Gura too, that was genuinely sweet and wholesome. I really really sympathize with her today, it's not fair to her at all.

I'm not going to shit on them for the mistake, I don't know anything about streaming at all. It was an event that could have been prepared for, but Calli thought she had it covered. It probably didn't help that her lower-intensity steams before lulled her into thinking all of the HM assets would function on a potato. Ina was trying to help Calli save face, it was a kind thing to do in front of 16K people.

The best way to sum it up is: a lot of us carry tissues just in case, but nobody wears a diaper because nobody expects to shit their pants. Well...except Noel that one time, but...

I hadn't considered it that way. I have more respect for Ina now trying to keep the 5%tards at a minimum.
I don't really understand what exactly was causing problems but it seemed kinda weird that they would still stream. I thought the point of not doing the TTRPG was because of tech issues but they still streamed gartic and had apparently no issues after they changed plans. I guess they didn't want the mood to constantly get interrupted if they had any more issues so they played something low-pressure?

If the stream was 5 dorks in discord using the D20 app, then it would've gone without a hitch. All of the music, the models, the effects, streaming live to Youtube, all of that requires different layers and Sigmar knows how many programs to be open. Calli mentioned she usually has all 3 monitors on full power when doing Huntermyth; this time she was trying to do it on a laptop with a bunch of tabs. The only real upside to this attempt was her timezone, but all the well-restedness couldn't save her from the task of trying to do everything on a potato.

I don't care what anyone says. I'm getting in that T3 session stream, and I'm gonna make her feel like she's the most appreciated person in the world. I fucking love this project.

it gets kinda worse as you get older.
sometimes the group can't sit a whole season because work of family stuff, so we end up shruggig it off and playing some board game to chill and throw shit at each other for a couple of hours.

It fuckin' happens man. Sometimes sessions turn south. Either the players do something dumb, something comes up and there are too few players or some other act of God like the server shitting itself.
No sense in continuing on half cocked. Sometimes you just gotta call it and throw dice next week.
It tends to work out though, it gives the GM more time to prepare more material and also allows for GMs to get one-on-one with players to tie things up or work out kinks in the game.
If tradition holds, she'll come out of this ready to go like Stormin' Norman.

One GM I had, if we were down players, would hold Gladiator style arena sessions. We all rolled up random characters, 3d6 straight down the sheet As Crom Intended for these sessions. The GM would simply roll for random terrain, environmental effects, and lastly random monsters. The GM would RP as Grandmaster as played by Jeff Goldblum for the announcer for the Arena. First time we ended up playing some horribly gimped characters that all died to Giant Goats. It was hilarious.

straight up, gming a game in front of 15k people as an amateur must be the most stressful thing on the planet. so while she could have done x, y or z she was also probably worried about a, b, or c. central truth of running a game is sometimes shit just doesnt work out. glad they rallied and i look forward to them picking it back up

Sounds about right. I used to run back when I had just one monitor. It was a lot of work to swap between discord for the rolls channel (and for the single no-mic player to speak), another channel for my notes, a channel for reference images, the music bot, etc. It got even tougher when I decided to add in a battlemaps, and I'd use paint.net and stream it to the fucking voice call.

Just having a second monitor made a world of difference. I can't imagine going back to just one and even trying to run. Even without a battlemap for WOD, doing it on a laptop is definitely gonna be hard as fuck.

Yeah, you don't just switch from multiple screens to one for online TTRPGs, especially a slower laptop. It makes everything take longer and you get a lot more silence; which is not a problem when you're either just playing with your friends or don't care that some viewers will complain about it. Neither applies to Calli.

To add to this >>8593820, just because every game has "morality" stat, doesn't mean you have to abide by them or even that abiding by them makes you moral in a traditional sense. Vampires, at least in CofD, don't face Breaking Points vs their morality stat by being evil, they do it by being inhuman and confronting their vampiric nature. Some of that stuff is immoral from a human perspective but plenty of it is normal human behaviour too.

this happens a lot yeah. it was pretty accurate tho for the whole thing to start 30min lmao. TRPGs tend to mostly devolve into everyone being mega late then some snafu happening and not being able to play.

all of Calli's games thus far have been a hit. she was tempting fate at this point lmao. anywho, can't wait to see more. I hope she doesn't get discouraged or crushed by this.
