It was pretty good.

Not they are not. Lots of people follow Hololive for the idol stuff, and regular e-girls don't provide that at all. It's an hybrid between e-girls and idols I'd say. There's also the fact that people act differently when they don't have to show their faces, and that lots of vtubers are in agencies that organize stuff while most e-girls are independent.

not really? E-girls main pull is being an attractive person who can lean into a cultural sphere of internet culture. This requires them to be physically attractive, up to date with current meme culture, and maybe be able to cosplay.

Vtubers main pull varies a lot from chuuba to chuuba, but as a generalization the most successful vtubers (Pekora, Gura, Ironmouse, Kuzuha, Kizuna) got big by being larger than life comedic characters. This requires a completely different set of talents. Namely being able to maintain a likeable kayfabe over long spans of time. In this way I think a better comparison would be pro wrestling.
