Oh, since people were talking about TubeOut, I wanted to share what I was reading on 2chan where they also were bitching about the price. They’re gonna run multiple, likely simultaneous, stages like a real festival, and you can buy a pass to just one stage which is only the price of a normal ticket. The expensive version is the one that gets access to all the stages. Of course, they’re not that dumb and will spread out the big draws to the various stages most likely, but hey.

I think it’s because she isn’t trying to get her L2d to work as well, so she’s able to maximize her audio set up. It’s the type of whispery rap that’s super popular for females in Japan on the verses, and the chorus is kind of catchy, but despite it having a bit of that Kami studios sound, it’s pretty distinctive from their normal stuff. Anyone attempting Ado is in for a rough time, and Anya isn’t a particularly strong singer from the few times I heard her live. Her mixer seems like they tried to work around that by applying some pretty heavy pitch correction, which you can certainly hear at points when she holds a note and it’s unnaturally flat, though he does get points for not making her a full on vocaloid. She also is very nasally throughout, which isn’t great, and doesn’t have the range to match how Ado throws her voice around on the chorus. However, something Anya does do which I appreciate is how she’s not afraid to put some growl and roughness into her voice which matches the feeling of the song. The lack of that is why Towa and Kanata’s Usseewa cover which should have been amazing was fairly meh, so while Anya might want to pick something easier in the future, she actually could make something good if she does her reps like Coco did and doesn’t lose that approach to singing in the process.

It depends a lot on the song and how liberal they allow themselves to get with the lyrics. Mori’s Roki cover was great and I also like a couple of Milky Queen’s, like Senbonzakura and Hated By Life, since they put more emphasis on getting the right sounds to go with the music then trying to accurately capture the wording of the lyrics. I’m not as a huge fan of most of Ama’s stuff, but that one song from Fire Emblem: Fate she did was good.

AZKi’s cover has been out for a while without boosting Hachi and only hit 91k views so far, and I also feel like most of the Pioneers know about her as well from AZKi tweeting and covering her during DSTM. I could be wrong, though. Watching chat during her 2k karaoke, people kept saying something about Bilbili, so she might have had something go viral there as well, but don’t underestimate the power of a clip hitting an audience who would never have seen someone otherwise.

Either way, this has got to be one of her best weeks ever with the concert, membership, and 25% channel growth. A bit of very rough numberfagging shows that she has about half as many as AZKi based on the likes on the member’s post, and we know AZKi has over 1k from how many emotes she has. The bee is going to be huge someday, even outside the small pond of vsingers.

Vsingers are still quite a niche interest, and HACHI flew under the radar of many people--even the ones who like Vtubers--because Live Union are total nobodies as far as backing goes. Shit, I feel old from watching her since the debut of Rainy Proof since that’s when AZKi retweeted it. I mean, that's the internet in a nutshell. You can be talented as fuck, but unless you get lucky and do everything you can to put yourself out there, no one will ever know. It is a shame that they kneecapped themselves by not streaming on a more accessible service instead of something that was more or less Japan exclusive and niche even within that, making it a dead end growth-wise. They're only starting to make the transition into the wider market now, though I guess they might have cultivated some of the ferverant gachikois who throw money like happened with Hachi on those smaller apps. However, compare that with someone like 88nia or Figaro who're very small time comperatively, but have had membership and monetization for a while now and you have to wonder how much more some of the most talented girls could have snowballed with that funding.

She’s really good, and it may just be my bias from listening to a lot of Yomi since she has unique song selections, but they’re both very similar and I like Yomi just a hair more. They both have slightly more masculine mannerisms then their voice would lead you to expect, with the very hard bite on some syllables, and a tendency to fill down time in a song with vocal improv, beyond them both having some amazing voices. I just haven’t heard Ratio quite able to put the depth of emotion beyond joy that Yomi has in her covers of songs like I Beg You, even when Ratio is singing something that calls for some anger like Odo. Of course, the mere fact that they can both step to Ado’s singing is pretty impressive in it’s own right.

They’re running it like a real world music festival where you bounce between stages to whoever interests you. Still kind of dumb since IRL festivals do that since you have to physically show up to the venue, but I guess they want it all done in one day.

I see that she has a whole video teaching how to sing "Dry Flower", but I can't find a full version of her singing the song. She did sing a short version in the linked video.

Going from that, I would say her voice has potential. She does a few tricks like Leona, which is good. But some of the higher notes (such as "kirai" at 2:45:06) feel off-pitch. I imagine it will be better once she is in the studio.
