The little details of it all are something that really get me going. Stuff like the smell of chlorine or the washing instructions upside down, or the way Marine headlocked her to keep her from running away. And the implication the Pekomama herself has been on either the receiving end or giving end of these Pekoland traditions before. It always makes me smile when I read one of these by someone else, because they make a narrative that’s straightforward and even mundane by wedgie story standards into something super engaging and hot by adding little personal flairs like that to it. You need to actually take the feedback you've been given. It seems like you're just glossing over everything that the thread has kindly given you in regards to a mediocre fic.
Fix your english, read some books, write a short oneshot you can actually finish. You can't commit to a story only to show us you've written a hundred more words. For snippets it's fine, but if you want real feedback, you need to post something people can actually dissect, and you need to see your flaws.

Harry Potter's pretty great when you're a kid at least. I was fucking obsessed with that world and fantasized constantly about being a student in Hogwarts (and banging Cho Chang). Even though I knew it was just fiction, I genuinely got kinda sad that I passed 11 without getting an invitation to Hogwarts kek. A lot of the Harry Potter criticism feels kinda petty to me; they got mad about Rowling so now they're scouring the books for every single little problem they can find. Some of that criticism might be legit, but I disagree with the conclusions. When you look at the big picture it's still a really great children's book series with a really fun setting. That said, I wasn't that into 5-7. If I re-read Harry Potter one day, I'd probably just do 1-4.

So many people trash Harry Potter but I see it as really good children's fiction writing. There's a reason so many people were taken by it. JK Rowling has a whimsical prose to her writing. Also, it's a slice-of-life narrative in western media that's not completely boring. Western plots tend to be heavy, but hers were a lot lighter and casual about the general school life.

That's how I've always felt about it. Yes it's not very good and yes the plot is kinda meh, but it's for children. It's the same reason you don't trash things like Disney cartoons. Its a weird case where both its petty but its also 100% true and deserved.

I fucking loved HP as a kid, but as soon as i moved onto other fantasy it was pretty obvious what the glaring flaws of the series were. HP works for the first 3 books because the problems and the kids are contained in the school and we can assume that all the "holes" are just not important for the world of the book. Harry goes to the magic cool school to forget his shitty life.

but then the rest of the books try to bring the magic out of the school and it crushes under its own weight. Rowling's imagination starts lacking and that's why the strongest kill move of the mages, the "fuck you" spell...its just a gunshot. By the end of the series, you are limping through a poorly thought out world that kinda doesnt give a shit, isnt about anything (We no longer go to the cool school to escape reality and Rowling is a centrist so no message worth shit) and doesnt even like itself.

AND THEN you add Rowling being a piece of shit on top of it.
TLDR: HP needed more tokusatsu moments, bollywood numbers or some spaghetti western lighting

It’s really interesting because the overarching narrative of the series is like almost a 1:1 Christian allegory, only it doesn’t quite get there right at the end. In order for it to work, you’d have to regard Dumbledore as Jesus, which Rowling obviously doesn’t. With like one tweak, though, it’s an amazing allegory of a young man coming to terms with the blood toll of his inherited sin (he’s a horcrux), realizing he can’t wipe it away himself, and then finding out he doesn’t have to perish because of it, because it’s already been paid for.

Then again, maybe it’s just fun wizard shit for kids. Who knows if there was any higher allegory in mind. Part of me thinks the ghost writer she obviously hired after book 2 wanted to sneak in some kind of symbolism, but maybe I’m completely wrong. The world is pretty neat and the movies are fun for most of the series, so something cool came out of it

She wrote the books herself, not hiring a ghost writer. Rowling is really really defensive in her writing and she would always respond to this or that fan criticism by introducing a contrived plot point directly answering what people say online. For example, the time machine in prisoner of azkaban was a plot hole generating machine, so Rowling resolved questions like "why not use the time machine to do xyz" with "Ah, well, all the time machines in the world have been stored in the exact same place and they're now destroyed all at once".

Seemingly the inhumanely cringeworthy plot about house-elves being a race that's inherently fit for slavery and Hermione being some kind of onions libtard NPC that gets mocked for giving a shit about their lives is a response to people going "Hey, what's with the house elves? Does everyone in the wizarding world that has any money just keep a slave in their house?"

I don't think she hired a ghost writer, I think she just got caught up eith the emo dark fantasy trend at the time. 2000s pop lit books were dystopian vampire romances and she was going with that appeal by book five.
On that note, I find myself pleasantly surprsied at the state of pop lit nowadays. It seems like writers are getting a lot more creative and branching out in different directions. Thrillers, mysteries, slice of life, and fantasy are all leagues better now that writers have had to innovate to get to a publishing deal.

As one of the anons who has been trying to give you feedback, I implore you to reevaluate what you might have thought about your own writing before. I'm not sure what you've written in the past, or what was highly regarded, but Goldfeather is not a representation of quality so far. It's not like any of us are bashing it to be a dick, you asked for feedback, and you got constructive criticism that if you choose to apply yourself, can do wonders for your own writing technique.
I'm also always baffled by writers who find books / reading other people's works boring. Like dude, your hobby exists to be read. You gotta read what you write. There are so many wonderful stories just made by the community of this thread alone that are a real treat to experience. To restrict yourself from all that is just plain rude to yourself, and to be candid, rude to others if you have an expectation that they should read what YOU wrote. Now you might not care if other people read about you fucking your aunt. You may just want to write it for your own pleasure to then shill it in /hag/, which is your prerogative, but your own passion project deserves your best, and that means never stopping to find new ways to improve your storytelling.
That was a lot, but I am physically and emotionally tired by being roped in to help my sister in law move today when she had nothing fucking packed. So yeah, I'm gonna choose violence.

I feel like her worldview on slavery has simply changed. The simple political message of Harry Potter is that you don't need to change anything about the institutions and systems, you just need to have good people in charge. It's a simple message for children, but it breaks down when you look at the treatmeant of house-elves and other intelligent magical creatures. Maybe you gaslight the reader a bit by acting as if you have established Kanata's motives in pt.1 better than you actually have, but it works well enough, considering she's just thrown in the same boat as (you). Are Botan, Mio, Koyori, etc, animal women in a world of humans? I feel like it's always worth mentioning their animal features since it helps paint your world with a lot more color. Sora mentioned she hadn't eaten in two days, and on top of walking on foot for that entire time, she would have been much closer to keeling over than how she acted. For something to showcase just how poor she was, something like she rationed a single apple across the entire trip, and didn't even waste the core. Something that like that would earn her a lot of pity points. Speaking of pity points, I feel like what should be her first hurdle is overcome a little too cleanly. It almost reads like a handwave and there wasn't enough offered in her defense to make her out to be an investment worth taking.
Anyway, another good point is that Sora and Botan feel like they have some substance to their personalities, so nice going.
