That was for that one episode, it really was a giant subpar virtual idol show. Imagine if you do a cover song on a terrible background and repeat that for all episodes. They kinda fix this in the 2nd half where you actually have a background and choreography but they go back to the uninteresting background with new songs in some episodes. Kizuna AI was really only used as a plot point and there was only ever one good episode where they used her in well and that was an episode toward the end. I'd hardly call this a vtuber anime other than using Kizuna AI. It's like if they did a worst version of Aikatsu Planet. Kizuna AI's name was only used for brand recognition.
