I think it's because a lot of people want to see directly how much they've prepared when they bring out maps and animated tokens for monsters and stuff and see everything in big elaborate setpieces. Actual good dming is just responsive improv though. But that means letting things go wherever the story swerves. So any of that prep that got paid for might not show up. When it's a longer campaign, that's fine, because you just reporpose that prepared stuff into some later thing. But in a short one shot like this, it seems like the default way to run things is to railroad from one setpiece to another. I can understand why, but it feels like a lot of the magic of tabletop gets pushed aside just so people feel like their money was well spent.

Some people might still be tapped out from Cyclethon. I am kind of surprised we're not seeing any donos. Maybe if they allowed donos to do something with the campaign? Like have a certain donation amount pick something that happens or something one character has to do and the DM has to work with it. So kind of like a "who's line" bit of spontaneous campaigning. Honestly i think it was a good idea to go with the staggered party members. Helps the story feels like it's developing, doesn't overwhelm the steam with too many members at once right away and allows for the dynamic to switch up multiple times. Mouse and bubi dynamic was different to mouse, bubi, geega and kuro and the same will happen with the other 2 members
