Eventually you get to the point where you instinctively know when you should or shouldn't mash out the SAED input because you know there isn't enough time for the attack to land.
A lot of it comes down to good positioning too, so you end up in a good place to SAED at the end of a monster's attack chain.
Blocking a roar is usually a pretty nice damage window too.

I dislike all aspects of it. The wallbang mechanic feels somewhat satisfying I suppose, but if you miss or the monster is annoying it really subtracts from the hunt. Plus you can get like 6+ per hunt which is 15% + however much you deal while its downed, meaning like 30%+ of the hunt is just solved due to the wall bang.
And then head breaks have never been easier.

the worst part about it is that i play exclusively GS, so i had the luxury of ignoring it without many problems. I had no idea that for some weapons (dual blade) they have to tenderize TWICE to get the full benefit. That and it used to last only...what? 1 min? then they extended the time a monster part was tenderized. Then their band-aid solution to the problem was to make a clutch claw gem so you only had to tenderize once with the deco on.
I really had no idea how easy i had it.

Some of the "double tenderize" weapons have moves that tenderize in one go.
Dual blade is actually one of the better tenderize weapons because of it. If you roundslash twice, and then press the right trigger, it does a move with great motion values that instantly tenderize.

Tigrex is VERY comfortable.
Basically when you heal with a potion its 3x faster, and you have a 75% chance to not consume the potion. It also has earplugs, so when a monster roars, you dont get stunned and can keep attacking. Also has attack boost.
The brachy CB is one of the best ones, and easily takes her to endgame.

The best way to time it is by waiting until Bijou is at the results screen where she gets to take all the items and rewards and shit from the quest.
