I don't even watch her but if you have any experience with photography IRL you'll know that lighting is everything and people can look completely different depending on it. Most vtuber models are lit from all angles, no shadows. The hand here is clearly under low/soft lighting conditions, which makes it look darker than normal.

I'm ghost pale irl and have wanted to do vtubing since 2021 when I saw my irl friend pick it up and do very well, but the design I came up with and love has medium brown skin. I'm super fucking bad at character design and colour palette is so important and it just doesn't look good with white skin, I don't want to change it. I only want to do vtubing with a a design that I genuinely like that I designed, but because it's taboo for white people to use darker skin than their own I haven't started and don't know if I ever will.
I always pick darker skin in game avatars and it's just because I think it looks nice (that's seriously the only reason), but because vtubers are more representative than a character creator in a game I can't continue that over. It pisses me off that it can only go one way, like I have no issue with someone picking any colour they want because it shouldn't matter, but it fucking sucks that it's considered blackface by some people when the reason is literally "I like how this looks".
