well, I'm a bit late, but here to offer my praises anyways!
It was a nice read, certainly love myself some Kuro-chan! (not to mention as of late there has been a severe lack of her white cousin in here as well)
I can't say much that the other anon's haven't already stated. The dynamic with Lui is good, although sometimes a bit too comically over-the-top for my tastes. Some sentences feel a bit choppy, but not to the point where it vastly subtracts from the reading enjoyment.
I'm looking forward to where you're going with this!
A little side note maybe: Try not to introduce too many characters at once. You've already hinted at a whole bunch of them to come, and adding too many often comes at the cost of none of them being well fleshed out.

I'd argue that published authors add wayyy more filler to their stories (that said, I'm basing this off of the one tiny snippet I can read from anon's screenshot), and it helps add more colour to the world imho. I'll use a book I read recently as an example, where the main character visits a restaurant and has their important dialogue get occasionally interrupted by a cheerful waitress who keeps bringing food (both of which get full descriptions). The waitress and her food didn't add anything to the story, but made the world feel alive.
I respect your opinion though, some people prefer the author to just get to the point.

Though more seriously, the bastard hero/laplus NTR concept is in a weird place.
Since conceptually some variation of hero fucks the little demon lord is basically her low hanging fruit when it comes to fantasy settings. Combine that with the fact that you have to work with the cuck pov and the emotional pain they're experiencing* means you're kind of locked into either a hyper-condensed pain-train ala a Terasu MC work or a multi-chapter fic about revenge, pain and failure.
*And you are locked into it if you're having the cuck be a pov at all, since otherwise you'd be better served not having him be a pov at all. At which point you're kind of asking yourself 'Why have him be there?' why can't it just be about Lapras getting taken away from her friends and broken in.

It's coming along, but it's been hard to write lately. I think I'm burnt out on everything else in life so finding the mental ease to sit down and write is tougher. I took a break yesterday and browsed a bookstore though while my wife was on some errands. I like the idea, but if you want the story archived in the /wg/ archive it should feature a vtuber of some kind (either the character of a real vtuber made into a person; or an OC as either a fictional vtuber or the rm of a real vtuber).
I'm fine with merely vtuber-related stories being shared in the thread personally, if just as inspiration; even sharing totally different stories of all kinds can be helpful for writers. But for fics that truly belong here, there had to be a line drawn for focus' sake.

Yeah, I mean, you're completely right that this kinda break wouldn't fly for a web novel. And that Tower of Tattle's actual content isn't really that fitting for a web novel release style. (It'll be back to two times a week now) At this point it's a bit of a wash where I'm just releasing as-is, so that I can do it as a side-thing. Being honest with it, it's more that I'm releasing Tower of Tattle so that I can clear up mental space for the web novel than it being much of a focus right now. I don't know. It's kind of weird. It's sort of a passion project insofar as it's had so much autistic focus thrown into it that I don't know what else to call it. And I do have a high emotional attachment to it at this point. But it's also kinda not because I mostly started it on a lark, and I'm committed to finishing it because I lay awake at night for hours when I leave things incomplete. Not to say that writing it has me burned out, or that it's a drag, because I actually really like Tower of Tattle and where it's headed, and I'm hoping when I've got my life and career and writing career all sorted out I can clean it up real nicely the way I really want to (cuz my end vision for it is a visual novel that I'd release as a whole thing.) I guess in that sense you could say the serialized prose version of Tower of Tattle is a prototype storyboard for a visual novel version I imagine making one day, whether or not that ever really happens. So I guess in short I'm just trying to compartmentalize it as best I can so that I can be as competent and productive as possible in my other endeavors.

Actually, idk, sorry none of you asked for this but just to blogpost a bit because I don't know who else to cry to, this last stretch of trying to make it as a writer is seriously making me sick with stress. It's weird because I'm lucid and not mentally panicking, but I can constantly feel the physical stress just churning my stomach and making me nauseous.

Anyway, sorry about that. That's a lot of whining and excuses. I guess I'll put it this way. I'm really thankful for anyone who's reading Tower of Tattle week to week even in this messy imperfect form. I really am. I haven't commented on your chapters since the ones back in the contest, but I do check them out when I notice an update since they do have a relaxing prose to them and the overall intrigue is entertaining. I suppose I'm a little confused on what's got ya all twisted up in terms of the story and how you're releasing it. I think there is some merit to waiting on more of the story being finished before releasing certain parts, but it depends on if you're looking for iterative feedback or not. Releasing segments as you get them done is just one of the ways you can do things, and that's just fine. It's also pretty natural to get attached to your own passion projects. Hell I can speak to that, it takes up a lot of my headspace and I kinda love that something I'm creating can make me feel that way. That of course comes with its own baggage of wanting to make it the best it can be and giving it your all, which can be both invigorating and draining at the same time, so it's also important to recognize how it might be affecting other aspects of your life and choosing what comes first. At the end of the day, when your own projects become almost like these living breathing parts of you, just like you want them to be their best, they want you to be your best too, so it's important to give yourself the slack you need. Just remember that you need to do what's best for you sometimes, since if something happens to you, your story can't be finished anyway, and neither you or your characters want that to happen. Just keep truckin up through life and you'll make it.

Well basically I spent five years writing a book that no literary agent or publisher seems to want. Part of starting a web novel is so when I do end up self publishing that book, I'll have some fans and don't just release it into the void. The thing is when you write a book and no one picks it up you start to wonder if you're just a complete hack that wasted half a decade. For whatever it's worth, I feel like the publishing game is much like other professional spaces; a lot of being in the right place at the right time. Also like with all types of media creation, things like advertising, word of mouth, and no shortage of luck play into it too. You could have a winning formula in whatever you create, but circumstances can just make it go unnoticed by the masses. It sucks, but that's how it goes sometimes. I've never really released or made anything besides my own fic, so I can't really come up with any good advice specific to marketing or handling the reception on a commercial level, but what I can say is that if what you created brings YOU joy, that kinda makes it worth it. As for how the story is going, it's interesting to think as original fiction but man... the ties to Shiori Novella, the hololive character, are running thin. I know by nature this is going to be a story with only Shiori and Redacted-san but the focus on side characters lately really is stretching the fanfic appeal of this thin.
Maybe this is a pacing issue but the arc fatigue for this is just getting exponentially worse with each 'nothing happens of note' chapter. I know you're writing ahead but you might want to consider squishing together plot points and refocusing back towards the main duo rather than on the town itself... though at this point it might be a structural flaw with the arc.

How can you reconcile Flare (stream personality) with Flare (lore)? From my very basic understanding she kind of hates her old model and everything associated with it. When you try to put it outside of streaming, it sounds like severe mental issues.

Outside of that concept hard forcing the issue by transmigrating the streamer into the lore body.
You could just frame it as that classic half-elf dilemma of being between two worlds. In Flare's case she'd be something like... She's raised as an elf, loses touch with her roots as she ventures outside but then finds new life in the other half of her heritage and chooses to live life as a human. With the stuff she hated (Fire magic, bows, and the old elf clothes, the panda thing) being replaced by her own choices (friends, gun, those elfriend birds, and her white dress).

thats a fair criticism. for what it's worth, the #shiorinstories tag when it was still alive mentioned that it was fine if shiori was a minor character, and i guess i had in mind that spirit of fanfiction. that said, given how long this is, i'll admit it's drifted more away from shiori than i hoped. 1. i do think... this might sound like a cop out but part vii is going to be a lot more shiori, esp backstory wise. that's a bit dissatisfying since part vii is so far off. 2. honestly, though, i would like to tie her in better and probably will try to do that in future revisions that get a lot more down to tacks in reconceptualizing content and pacing.

part of me suspects the effect is magnified by the fact that part vi is populated by characters who didn't even exist in my head when i wrote parts i to v, and it creates a lot of whiplash for the reader.

in the short term though, i'll see if i can nudge the shiori-ness a bit in the upcoming chapters, just so it isn't so ????? for novelites especially

I guess mulling it over... at this point enough people have expressed discontent with the pacing. So maybe like... two options are kinda coming to mind. Option 1. Icould make it once a week, aim for chapters that are a lot longer and achieve a lot more plot wise each chapter. Maybe aiming for chapters that are like... 2.5 the current length. So if right now chapters are ranging from 2500 to 4000 words, it'd be like... 5000-8000ish word chapters. This would really just be a medium level retooling and I'm not sure how much the arc structure issues would still persist pacing wise. I think I severely misjudged the bad taste of a low plot development chapter vs. the willingness of a reader to read a very long chapter, or even a lot of very long chapters.

2. The other option is basically what you guys have suggested, which is really realllllly retool it, forget the regular release, and legit just do a "it's done with it's good enough and it's as long as it needs to be" pace. (probably would not retool already released stuff though just for effort's sake). It's worth saying that could be a lot lot longer. Lot lot lot. I'd be really wary of making any promises time wise. Idk. Maybe an episode a month is what I can meaningfully promise. Yeah... I think I could definitely do that.

So, to give some cost benefits off the top of my head, the story will objectively come out a lot faster with a regular release schedule, even if the pacing seems slow. So it's sort of a question of pacing as a narrative aspect vs. pacing in real world time. I know no one's exactly waiting with bated breath for the story, necessitating any sort of rush, but I do worry an episode a month is obnoxious in its own way.

But yeah anyway who's still reading just lmk and I'll steer toward the general consensus.

Menhera Wrangler’s ending hit me pretty hard back when it was first released, but looking back on it I’m not sure what made me feel the surge of emotion I did when I first read it. Our Cures is a no-brainer, I was stoked when Anon and Ayame became a couple. The Perfect Day is also a worthy mention, I had to step away from my computer and sit down for a solid few minutes to process how I felt about it.
