I think you underestimate the JP market my dude. There are agencies on the Japanese market, stronger than Phase, that you probably didn't even hear off. Phase has been getting lucky in the West, because NijiEN is in decline - but even there, outside the CCV, NijiEN is 10 times bigger than Phase. In the JP market Niji has to worry about Brave Group and Neo Porte, which are growing. Phase isn't even in the picture - it may compete with VMOS, and if successful, with Nori Pro. But Nijisanji? 2023 was an uneventful year for niji en (live events was disappointing, 3d reveal was nonexistent, losing mysta and nina was a blow, terminating zaion without giving her another go to redeem herself was bad but maybe good in hindsight, she has the right attribute to success in niji but zaion was a hard talent to manage, she has issues with following basic rules in a vtubing corpo), but they still managed to compete with holoid, some holoen members and most of holostars. its hard to do that if you arent neoporte, vspo affiliated vtubers or the big four heavenly kings. even then, only kizuna ai was a big hitter from the big four, the other three members do current niji en numbers.

Luxiem and NijiID where already in decline by the time the drama started. They declined a lot throughout 2023 - Luca from example, went from averaging 10k in CCV at the start of the year, to averaging 5k in the middle of it, and finished the year averaging 2k. I don't really get the thing about ID prime thou... outside of Kobo who stabilized at her current level after the first 6-8 months, the numbers of the rest where and are pretty stable, and there are no major changes. In fact, Kaela and Anya have been growing their average CCV since. The only one who saw some decline other than Kobo, is Moona - but is mainly because Kaela replaced her role of Minecraft specialist and NPC.

niji id was a joke branch that riku tried to made to appeal to the id goldmine, but id audience arent interested in watching vtubers that arent from their local corpo or hololive branded ones plus the id audience is not willing to donate big on vtubers. it wasnt all that bad though and niji still gained positives like for example, hana macchia. she is still a great asset for nijisanji to have around whenever she wants to stream. kobo falls from grace is mainly management problem not knowing what audience they need to keep pandering to so they will stay, like the luxiem boys. luxiem lost ccv after the mixed gender collabings start to happen and kobo lost her big ccv after she starts collabing with holostars. even a non gfe oriented vtuber can suffer from male collabing, unless you are jp apparently.

With how seldom certain EN holos were streaming, you'd expect these two predominantly English-speaking Hololive vtubers to have cannibalized the viewership. Instead Ollie's been typecast as an obstinate comic relief background character while Reine's niche gaming choices failed to attract and retain viewership.
Then there's the yabs: Ollie scolding ID viewers asking her to speak their language was met with mixed results, even if it was warranted. Reine's later night Elden Ring streams were helping her gather momentum (IMO in a similar vein to Moona/Kaela Minecraft streams) but she seemed to have a panic attack when her, admittedly straightforward play, was being critiqued by viewers so much so she privated a vod and played through the rest of the game in a worse attitude.
With that said, even HoloID gen 1 has trouble with casual stream viewership numbers nowadays, implying an issue with retaining ID viewership. HoloID gen 3 has basically mogged them both and have effectively cannibalized these two's numbers even further.
In any case, Anya has been able to leverage her JP proficiency to carve a niche out for herself and JP Niki appreciate her wit. But it's not just language, Anya doesn't delay with FOTM games and is capable of holding her own with whomever she collabs with. Sorry for the essay

Was it helpful and calm critique or most of chat going apeshit at her? Because games like that tend to attract autists who don't seem to understand the concept of having fun playing a game. I wish I could see more chuubas playing games like Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings, Stellaris - but I think a lot don't because it inevitably attracts a bunch of retards who become infuriated if the girl doesn't do exactly as they say at all times.
Obviously those kinds of games are probably a massive debuff as well which is another reason not to stream them, but I think a lot of it is to with the fanbase.
