I'm not really trying to argue in favor of doing absolutely nothing for the lower performing members of a company just thinking about the way that people seem to take particularly issue with it in the context of vtubers while not really caring so much about it or even being accepting of it more generally. That said I don't really see the connection between promoting existing low performers and how newcomers will do that you are positing. As long as you adequately promote the newcomers whilst the are new and give them the best possible opportunity to build an audience the good ones that were destined for popularity should make it while the ones that were never going to perform well still wont no matter how much you force them down peoples throats.

Personally I don't currently see any reason this thread can't continue to exist as it is currently going forward. Pomu redebuting doesn't necessarily mean it has to go anywhere or change. There are multiple examples of general threads on this board that have managed to exist long term with vtubers from different agencies or continuing to include members of an agency that graduated and redebuted as indies. If people want to make it work it can work. It might get fast and more shitposty again for a while like it was immediately after the drama but it will probably calm down again eventually like it did now.

If anything it is Pomudachi doing the other fanbases a service keeping this place active. IMO it's something we'll have to think about if it ever becomes an issue, which it hopefully won't. However, I cannot entirely share your optimism for two main reasons.
The first one is that this situation has only to my knowledge happened once on this board, because the examples you speak of are either generals whose VTubers left the company without rebranding and without any embargo on interacting with members (like tsunX) or companies that essentially folded all at once so the thread went from "company general" to "indie group general" in no time flat (like ppg+ in part and VReX and late tsunX in total). The only general that fits our case is actually /999/+/voms/; a "main" thread that was already barely alive and basically died when one talent graduated and in order to survive merged with the general of its reincarnation -- I suppose our hypothetical equivalent would be /mint/+/lazu/.
The second one is that what happened with /999/+/voms/ is highly unlikely to occur here. In their case they had a company that was well-respected if irrelevant merge with a thread that was mostly composed of new fans, who largely either had no opinion on VOMS or considered it positively. I don't think I need to tell you that new Mint fans won't be as kind to her former coworkers, so it will be less like mixing water and oil and more like mixing water and potassium.
