I watched a video about pic rel and how he was chased out of the internet by antis and doxxfags and it got me thinking about so many things the chuuba community does to filter out shitters from fans that we just take for granted as obvious...

The VTuber community and Hololive in particular do so many simple things that lets chuubas survive in a world where there's so many people trying to destroy them for whatever reason.
The oshimark for example. If you have an oshimark you're part of the "fan" community of that particular chuuba. And if an account with an oshimark shittalks their oshi, they will get fucking shamed and excommunicated from that community.
In a similar way, shittalking from people without oshimarks can be so readily ignored.
Same with stuff like memberships. Greyfags in chat shittalking will always get insulted, and non-schizo members almost never shittalk unless they actually have some legit grievances about their oshi's content direction.
Hell, shit like that is how even chuubas like Mikeneko can still have fans wishing her well despite everything. Unfortunately that woman just refuses to use the tools at her disposal.

RBI is also never utilized that well by those outside the chuuba fanbase. So many accounts that are dedicated antis can simply be blocked or muted so that they just end up shouting into the void.
Yet likes and clout are what decides where western e-celeb attraction goes. There's plenty of holoanti comments with like 10k likes or whatever, but because they have zero oshimarks and because they're not part of the community, no one inside the community really gives a shit about what they say. No one WITHIN the community RTs that type of shit, and so there's very little chance of your oshi finding such anti comments unless they go looking for it themselves. And even if they do, they will see no oshimarks and just disregard the comment. It's not easy, but the girls have learned to do that over the years.

I got the feeling that this dude was never able to really sift between people that were actual fans of him vs haters purely because of this lack of distinction. On twitter, how do you even tell that someone is your fan or just hating on you? You see a comment with 10k likes shitting on you and you can't even tell if it's your fan or some dedicated hater without digging deeper. And when there's like 10-20 comments like that? You can't help but think no one likes you.
But if he had an oshimark, he'd see people wearing his oshimark praising him and those that aren't wearing it shitting on him, and it'd be so simple to just compartmentalize the fact that he has a fanbase that loves him and it's just hates and jealous fags that are shitting on him. Number of likes wouldn't matter, they'd be an outsider all the same.

The severe doxxfagging attitude outside the chuuba community is also weird. Mori is pretty open with her roommate shit but somehow she's still able to live her life properly despite doxxfags circling the community like vultures.
Hell, holos have been doxxed before but they just move to a new apartment. Maybe that's too difficult in America though, idk. Maybe the "box" substitutes for all the irl friends who you can't discuss this topic with.

In the end, I think this dude was probably the most "ideal" version of the male chuuba. Some guy with a cool voice who just wanted to play games with his friends, make music, wanted his anonymity preserved.
Dude could've probably thrived in the chuuba community.
But alas, the e-celeb world is just a crab bucket, just tearing each other down for scraps of clout...
