Short selling is a way to make profit from the value of a stock going down. Here's how it works, more or less
>Borrow the stocks you want to short sell from someone
>Promise to pay them for that stock later on at a specified date, you will pay what the stocks are valued that day
>Borrow stocks, sell them right away (let's say, at 100)
>Stocks goes down, specified date arrives, you have to give back the stock to whoever lent it to you
>New, current price is 40. Buy at 40, give it back
>You sold at 100 and gave it back at 40, making 60 profit

It's extremely simplified, but yeah. Third party is willing to lend you stocks because of commissions + bet it will go up, against what you believe.

Yeah, like people were discussing in numbers. Their stock is about to become a cheap bargaining chip for other trades. And that is not a position you want to be in, when you company is fully leveraged on its stock value. They are much more exposed to market sentiment than Cover (their funding % of stock is much lower). And as someone said above, follow the longterm trend, not the chatter.

More like the short selling caused the dip then rushed to get their shares back causing a short squeeze that was halted due to loans of the stock being in too high of a demand. That suspension of stock being bought or sold is actually kneecapping Anycolor's stocks in general
