I don't think Axel's actual appearance is particularly dog-like though? He's basically just got long-ish teeth and nothing else that says "dog" is actually attached to him. Jurard has very noticeable reptile teeth and eyes even in his normal form, plus scales and an attached tail when he transforms. It's a pretty big difference.

No......That's called "having a motif". His tails are a keychain, his ears are projected light accessories from small modules he puts on his head. It's like a character who wears cat ear headbands, a fake tails and has sharp canines, and goes nya~ as a speech quirk but it's ultimately just a regular human injecting a bit of style into their wardrobe.
