What is this corporate control that people talk about when it comes to Hololive? They say it's gotten worse recently but how exactly? Last time I checked they're still allowed to collab with Nijisanji and VShojo. Correlation does not imply causation. One of the things that drew people to Hololive early on and got its popularity running was its fun atmosphere, how the vtubers were allegedly "idols" but acted nothing like idols and were free from idol restrictions. Recently the company has become more and more idol-like with all the ugly restrictions that come with the title. There are many people, including me, who were turned off by that and started watching Hololive less as a result, moving on to other agencies such as Nijisanji/Prism/Tsunderia and indies to get that same feel we used to get from Hololive. That does NOT mean the company is dying, they're more popular than ever and they'll keep on getting more popular with people who are new to them. But they've lost something that made them great, and that's a damn shame.

Some years back Nintendo tried to start copyright striking western creators for using their games in streams and videos but even they eventually kneeled. Selen was talking last week about how they have a list of games they have permissions to play, and that someone had asked for Starcraft 2 before (and got it) but no one asked for Starcraft 1, so she did. I mean you can look at their normal numbers and see for yourself. The reasons why the numbers are awful for this collab are because:
1) "We Were Here" games are not fun to watch. Both girls know their numbers were going to be shit playing this because there's precedent, but they did it anyways bc only numberfags here care about numbers.
2) Split POV of a game people already don't want to watch
3) Ina is streaming as well, overlapping them.
4) It started at 12pm PST/3pm EST on a weekday. Good time for Euros, but we already know the euro audience for vtubers is much smaller than NA.
