I have been thinking about this for a while, and want to know if there were any brothers of islam who watch vtubers and can enlighten me on this subject
are vtubers idolatry? depending on your interpretation of the quran, I am worried they can be considered such
but the law is vague, depending on how you define vtubers and your personal relationship to them
what do you think?
obviously it is not something I can bring up to my imam... I want to ask my friends but none of them really know about vtubers here, so I am afraid to bring the subject

Not a muslim but I can say this. Religion should not affect in how you watch vtubers. If for whatever reason they did was offensive to your religion, know that they did it unintentionally. And vtubers AFAIK don't try to bring up religious topics (aside from Marine going to catholic school but that's nothing much).

As long as you don't do bad things as the result of watching vtubers, you should be fine. It's entertainment, not a religious doctrine that will corrupt your belief.

It depends on how you take it and whether the people around you are fine with it or start nit-picking almost everything you watch and flag them as "Haram" back then in the Islam Era people used to stone women for revealing a small part of their skin for whatever reason maybe back then, now? It's entirely different you can't go about yelling at everyone that you should never reveal your skin people will just think your Islamophobic or a backwards-thinker and people will slowly start to distance away from you. It's better to blend in with society instead of being the odd one out.

TLDR; it's up to you what you find something as right or wrong and how you perceive that information, as long as you got self-control over what you're doing you'll pretty much be fine with almost anything unless you get too addicted to something to the point where anything will feel totally fine for you but in reality, some will be morally right or wrong.

Interpretation is a core aspect of anything intellectual and philosophical, even in fields like maths or physics, the same result can have multiple interpretation according to the context. Doesnt mean it's bullshit.

Interpretation of religion avoids setting the ideology in stone so it can adapt to societal changes no matter how old the religion is, again because of different contexts.

Consider why muslims do not eat pork. The scripture justifies it by saying that pigs are unclean, but once you think about the actual society Mohammed lived in you recognize that the pig was simply not an animal that could be used as livestock in these societies. And he recognized that and codified it as a religious law.
Why do muslims kill their animals in a specific way? Because if you remove all the blood from the animal, the corpse spoils less quickly.
Why are the women covered up? Because this type of attire is most practical in a arid and windy desert.
Why are musical instruments considered haram? Because you don't want to carry that shit around in the desert.
Islam is an extremely practically-minded religion. And that is why it was proliferated so quickly in the area. The teachings were not only imported by fire and sword, but they were incredibly useful.

This is the mistake all fundamentalists make, they do not recognize dogma. They do not bother to try finding the immutable core of the religion and instead take everything that is written as dogma. But religion doesn't work that way, it's like Tarot reading, you use these "laws" as baselines to examine the way you view the world and what you do in it.
