Technically, most holomem belong on the right. They can call themselves idol-inspired group, but there are no more than 5 talents that were (are) serious about pursuing music endeavors AND having to work for it. Sora started as a low 2view, didn't give up, and is still going strong. Suisei's story is somewhat similar because when she debuted, Hololive wasn't really a thing. Everyone after sankisei were instantly granted success without doing a single thing. I have no negativity toward EN branch, but how can you look at Myth and say that they had any idol-like struggles? Gura pretty much instantly received 1M subs just for saying "a" and constantly had 30k+ people watching her play MC with 0 songs and concerts under her belt. Mori was similar, but at least had her RIP song out. Sorry, but without the journey, there's no idol dream.
Besides all that, pink woman never really tried to give off JP idol vibes. It was all about rap for her. That's why when she released "可愛くてごめん // Sorry I'm So Cute! ", there were so many people surprised that she can even sing like that. I respect her for her work ethics, and she's truly an entertainer/performer worth her salt, but the path she has walked is completely different from her senpai or any traditional JP idol.

An idol is someone that works in entertainment specializing in driving engagement through their image, fashion, personality, and interactions both online and in person. Singing and dancing is NOT a requirement to be an idol, it is just one of the many skills na idol can possess. The main point of an idol is being someone that seems godlike but at the same time down to earth and relatable to fans. This is partly why they are called idols, because you can idolize them due to being able to relate to them but also respect and admire them.

This is going to sound like a bullshit answer, but apart from the basic stuff such as singing/dancing/working hard, I would consider 'idol' to be more of a personal view. There's the point in the pic -
>inspires fanbase
but the real question is, does the talent inspire you? If so and they sing, dance, work hard, and entertain, they're an idol. If they don't inspire you, they're not an idol.
As far as male collaboration goes, I would argue that it's often more so not dating guys rather than not having at male collaboration. Take the group Under17. I would consider Haruko Momoi as an idol even though the guitarist Masaya Koike was a guy. She is multi-talented, hard working, and an entertainer that I would consider inspirational.
Going to hololive, I think the only ones that really inspire me personally are Fuwamoco and Suisei. Don't get me wrong - I don't have anyone in hololive I dislike, but I see them as entertainers, streamers, or just musicians. I don't really feel inspired them. Your answer may vary, and that's ok. Idolize who you want.

I feel like you guys are missing the point on idols, they don't even have to sing or dance, back in the day there were idols specialized in comedy, some in cuteness, some in different languages, etc. the thing they shared in common was appealing to the fans through interactions and fan events and influencing the youth through their own tastes, such as an idol saying she hates smoking and all her uncle fans dropping smoking. This singing and dancing stuff really only became synonymous with all idols thanks to kpop

AKB48 is more similar to Nijisanji in how it's run. Top talents get everything there: get to be the center of the group, solo single releases, sponsorships and so on, but the ones at the bottom are literal filler who end up doing porn after graduating because they couldn't save any money. No talent in AKB48 instantly receives popularity equal to their top talents the moment they debut. In Hololive, when someone debuts, they pretty much instantly become Top 100 worldwide vtuber with guaranteed fat stack of money once SCs are enabled and merch starts rolling in. IDs may be an exception because they're poor, but generally speaking, if you're in Hololive - you've made it. If you're in AKB48 - you're in, but your journey of pleasuring oijisans is just beginning, and until you prove yourself, you're nobody not just in the idol world but in the group itself. Most never get to rise to the top and graduate after 2-4 years (ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_former_members_of_AKB48).). In contrast, Hololive only has 2 real graduations that weren't caused by some sort of shit storm. It's simply not the same.

An Idol is a multi-tasking entertainer - they sing, they dance, they can be models, they act in movies and they go to variety shows... that's all there is to it. This crap about being someone who inspires people is just anime bullshit... what does an indol inspire you to be more exact? Half of the hardcore fanbase are NEET's and Hikki's who barely leave their rooms, and just become herbivores who can't talk with a real woman, so they invest all their emotional and sexual relationship in a parasocial relationship with an idol, that needs a 2 hour long shower after every meet-and-greet with them. So how exactly are those guys inspired to work hard by them? To me it looks that we can't even talk about laziness, a lot of them simply give up on everything - give up on themselves.
There are many idols, and a lot of entertainers are idols, because is an encompassing term, that includes a lot of people - singers, VA's, models, AV actresses, actresses, and so on. So it doesn't mean something specific - it just means someone who does a variety of activities in the entertainment industry.

Getting the top in AKB48 has little to do with being a top talent, and more with how much you are able to sacrifice yourself - in other words, how much dick are you ready to suck, from your bosses and important staff, and in the industry. AKB48, is just a harem for old farts - it was created just, like many modeling agencies, to give access to perverted men, to young naive girls. There had been plenty of rats and former members talking for years, about what has been happening in AKB ever since the first generation, and is basically like in the manga - young girls, even underage, forced to sell themselves to old farts in the industry for opportunities, filming amateur porn for them and VIP's, and all sort of Weinstein level abuse.
