I don't know, that argument really all boils down to the preference between tried and tested (nijisanji formula) vs new territory (hololive/idol formula), of which would have been a fairly even split of preferences among vtubing audiences, potential and current. Hololive winning the coin toss is more or less attributable to being almost drama-free, and being the morally advantaged/"victim" side whenever they do in fact encounter drama (which is WHAT MATTERS when trying to take advantage of a drama buff), whereas Niji was the perpetrator of its own dramas..

I don't think that's very relevant to the argument. Casual viewers and clip watchers who discovered Holo and Niji during the pandemic were vastly unaware of the drama related to the two groups. I still believe Hololive prevailed simply because it was fundamentally a more interesting and unique take on the streamer formula for the average western viewer. At least it was so for me.
