I partially blame their own culture for being drama prone. Things like self-loathing, being dismissive of their own cultural identity, wrong pride, fondness of gossiping, nepotism/cronyism or terrible handling of mental health and regional above average occurence of related problems are very common within the country's community and make up a bad foundation, although it also highly depends on the upbringing of the individual. Descendants that are more distant to the culture tend to get away better than those who were born there. Doesn't help either that poverty and family problems are common as well and negatively influence it as well, let alone the political instability.

Can't blame me since I have no real anchor point in my personal life that helps me naturally developing such an identity. I haven't been to PH for two decades already with no direct contact to family there and the only two relatives from the PH family side living here are my mom and her sister, both of which have been living outside of PH for more than three decades. So anything I pick up is either through media or hear-say from said relatives. To be fair though, sometimes I think about trying to learn one of the languages and getting back in touch with the family there, but that would realistically mean starting from zero in every way, which makes me question if it makes sense in first place. Family is from the south as well btw.
