is it at least effective? does it give diminishing returns on xp the more you level up?

it is very grindy on f2p. quests work way better for xp. you do get lower xp the higher level you are, and even leveling from 9 to 10 is a pain in the ass on just kraken. you want to do it in a group of 2 or more because if you group up against a mob you gain bonus health orbs and mana orbs at the end of the battle.

i'm not entirely sure. i'm not sure you can even get to another region without unlocking firecat and cyclops alley in wizard city. I'd say getting members is your best bet and doing quizzes along the way.

I'm still very new myself but some people recommend upgrading your gear every 5 levels with shit from the bazaar (assuming you're not paypigging) until 30 then you can get better stuff from some quest or dungeon or something

I don't really get it either, I purchased one of the random wands and it gave me a bunch of 100% accuracy 50 damage cards instead of the starter ones and I don't think it's better. Oh well.
Also what was the "pip" symbol Hexa talked about in the equipment? I can see the value in casting a 2-cost spell on turn one but I couldn't figure out the stats systems yet.

I think the benefit is those ones are 0 cost meaning you can cast them while building up pips for stronger spells. Though I still don't really know that much about the meta

Fishing actually doesn't seem bad as a way to get a bit of early game gold, though I imagine there's better sources later (and better things to spend your energy on) This is like one energy bar's worth I fished just now with only the free lure, it refills immediately whenever you level up too

I would recommend skipping Barzssr lvl 5 gear and wait for lvl 10 as lvl'ing is fast and you get the lvl 5 gear itself while questing. the staff hexa was talking about was the Ascendant Staff (2500 crowns/5$) is bis until lvl 30 and gives two pips at the start of the fight and is a godsend for boss battles and trash clearing. pips let you use high-lvl cards that coat more pips to use. If you use the Ascendant Staff remember to remove the trash ward attack form your deck as it's useless.

Also I still am not really sure how getting new pets works, some guides I looked up suggested getting an oppossum for my school but I'd need to be like level 118 to do the quest to get it? I think you can also get it by breeding with another player who has it and hope the result is one or something though

I'm myth and haven't noticed that. The quest bosses do come with an additional enemy but you're probably not referring to that.
Sidenote but I wish the summons got targeted by enemies more often, their additional bodies don't seem to help with tanking at all really.

Hi Champs. Friend here. I never post on 4ch but I figured I'd make a post here to give you guys a starter guide for anyone looking to hit level 30 for the guild.

If you have crowns to spend, get the Ascendant Staff from the crown shop; it's 2500 crowns or about $5. Use this until level 30 for the extra pip.

If you want to be able to level faster, there is a tool you can use called Deimos that will give you a erm... "speed boost", but please know that it is against Wizard101's TOS. Hitting F7 in Deimos will automatically teleport you to your next quest + allow you to speedhack. Be careful to do this in unpopulated realms.

You'll want to upgrade your gear in the bazaar every 5 levels until level 30. Once you hit level 30, you'll be farming Mount Olympus dungeon for a full set of Zeus gear. The dungeon is a side quest you receive when you hit level 30. The drop rates SUCK and there's no pity chest. I apologize in advance. You will continue to use this gear until you hit level 60, which is when you will farm the Waterworks dungeon for your gear.

There are a ton of gear guides online on various Wizard101 forums that will be helpful. Having a pet that gives you a blade is also super helpful.

I have it on pretty good authority that Hexa's Discord server is a good place for additional questions as well if you have any.

Also, to the anon complaining about 2 mobs. Once you hit a certain point in the questline, it will automatically start pulling 1 more mob than there are wizards.

You can purchase treasure cards, but they are not needed. All of your spells will be learned along the way as you quest.

Until level 30, look for gear that gives you the most health. Damage on gear doesn't really come into play until the level 30 Zeus gear! If you see an open hand next to a damage stat, it's flat damage and it's shit. You want closed fist damage, as that's a percentage multiplier.

You will also get your new wand at level 30.
