As nice as all the promises of "let's still be friends and play together after I graduate" are, it's hard to make up for the fact that the more important the things they're working on are, the less time they'll have to share it with each other. The only way to prevent that is if they don't wait 1 or 2 years to begin calling her back, so she can already be a part of at least one of their bigger projects soon, like, say 3rd Fes. The restrictiveness helps a lot. There's a setting where in order to chat you had to earn points by watching the stream.
Compared to subscriber-only mode that's a big pain in the ass to create bots for because now you have to amass enough points on each account by having them watch the stream. Sub mode also discourages this if you set the minimum required sub time long enough but you can just have the bots sub the account and wait.

It's less the fact that other platforms have better spam prevention, and moreso that Youtube is really fuckin' bad at it. The main issue is that it's account creation system is outrageously generous. With a single email and phone number for verification, you can create a Google account, and then use that to create a shitload of Youtube profiles tied to it. I'm not even sure if there's a limit, but the chinamen spam guide recommended 50 per account. And despite these 50 accounts all being tied to a single verification method, Youtube's chat moderation tools treat them as 50 completely separate accounts. And I believe the price of a Youtube account never went over like one dollar. So one autist can singlehandedly ruin a stream for less than a light-blue superchat. It's crazy. For literally every other website in the world, one phone number gets you one account.
