Complexity isnt a dealbreaker as long ad it looks good. Biggest thing that makes me want to draw you is a good design.

Here are some things that make me not want to draw somebody that can still be a good design.
1. Non-anime designs. Im just not well practiced drawing western style stuff and converting it into anime style just feels disrespectful for some reason.
2. Designs with too many colors. Its adds more complexity to everything and can start to get cumbersome to work with.
3. Clothing that is patterned in a compex way. Think plaids, complex gradients, checkerboard stuff, that kind of thing.
4. Characters that have just way too much hair or the hair is in a strange/complicated and distinctive hairstyle.

Yeah, that's definitely a big part of the problem and also why I don't like to draw really complicated hair a lot of the time. I often don't want to draw a character straight on. And if I have to do a ton of research or thinking to imagine what this weird as fuck hairstyle should look like from another angle I am just way less likely to want to do it. But yeah, a good reference from multiple angles helps this a lot.

Honestly if people enjoy your content they'll put in the effort to draw a super complex design or simplify it themselves. If I don't find a chuuba's base-design fun to draw, but I still want to make fan art because I enjoy their content, I'll just make up an alt outfit that's fun for me and is still in line with their overall character. All artists are different though, some are super into complexity and love intricate designs and will be more likely to draw those. As long as your design isn't a complete eyesore at its core, you don't have to worry, fans that want to draw you will accommodate. (Commissioning art pieces that include a complex design will probably bump the price though. So just be mindful of that if that's a concern for you.)

Lots of people almost never draw anything but cute anime girls. I think that is where a lot of that comes from.

Honestly that's kind of one of the biggest things that result in getting more fan art. The closer you are to being a "cute anime girl" the more you will be drawn. Babis get way more fanart compared to guys of similar popularity. But it includes non-conventionally attractive or cute women getting less fanart too.

Sometimes I wonder how much thought goes into a design outside of that character's best case.
To give an idea what I mean. Most people could say "I know what Kronii looks like because her hair and outfit are so" but would they still recognize her if her hair wasn't exactly placed like it appears on streams and without her distinctive outfit? Would somebody recognize your character if they had, for example, just climbed out of a dive from a swimming pool or are they only recognizable or distinct under the art version of perfect stage makeup?
