/vtai/ resident here, that's not AI art but i'm 98% sure it's traced over from AI and color picking from AI.
Ironically the only one who can tell if an art is traced over from AI are the prompters itself.
I've been shitting over 50k AI images to know how exactly AI colors, AI face&expressions and AI composition looks like and Her Kiara art look like an AI art without VAE, a lot of artists feel into this trap but deleted the art once they realize it.
That Pomu pic is least offender, even popular artist use it and got caught, i've seen worse. At least they make some effort and not trying hard to prove themself by screenshotting some WIP.
If you're in doubt check their old art, if somehow there's a dramatic change in artstyle, before October to November 2022 especially the face and how they angle their character then it's surely the artist used AI AND if their art changed again after December 2023 (v3 release) then it's no doubt they use AI.
It depends on you how you want to judge if tracing over AI, or using AI art as base counts as AI art or not

Its 100% traced for sure. Balloons are just AI. And the hands look like a very speedy fix, since the lines dont even connect, where you'd see the piece of the rope in between the fingers.

I don't know this person, but looking into it i am pretty sure it's a type of 'business first' type of artist. Where they will cut corners because time is money. But they will still make adjustments where it's necessary. Like who gives a crap about the background, so they will focus on the figure.
It wont matter for the industry thats hiring him - the companies. But it does poison the well for the people who want to enjoy art or admire abilities. Once you add a pixel of AI into your art, even if its in the background, then one wonders just how far will you go to cheat? I think thats the difference between art coniseurs and enjoying art and running it as a business.

Its difficult to say how the market will go currently. I think there may be a divide coming, artists that are really good without AI will be in high demand for vanity customers, but you will also have a high quality AI-assisted market. Unfortunately aspiring artists with cheap prices you see on skeb might really struggle to find consumers, unless there will be value assigned to more 'natural' art and if AI-assisted art will just become the expected, generic and boring. Like >>67129374 /vtai/ anon said. Once you sat with AI art for a while you start to see the patterns in facial construction, shading, value ranges and composition choices, AI art cannot take artistic risks, all of it ends up as body horror. And what is competent it becomes rather bland, even though 90% of the image quality is above average artist on the market. But it will take a while for the average joe and your mom to see enough of it to develop a mental identifier and pattern recognition to the point of getting sick of it.

Glaze at settings where it doesn't affect the image does absolutely nothing to the AI.
If you make Glaze so strong that you can see it with the naked eye, in some cases it actually makes it easier for the AI due to how it interprets noise.
>freezing AI progress to before
Even if they worked, which they don't, the AI would still improve anyway.
XL models need a fraction of the data for a character to learn it compared to 1.5 for example.

I'd say they are somewhat safe. People who just want to consume some slop will eventually have access to models that do good enough. There may be a market for touch ups. However if you're willing to pay and wait it might as well be real. Especially with fetish art you're likely looking for something very particular, teasing that out of an AI can be more of a pain than telling a guy. So if you want instant you'll do it yourself accepting the rough edges, or if you want something exact you'll pay an artist to actually draw it.

I don't see the average person ever caring though. They neither have an eye for quality or much care for the moral debate. If a show or game is the next big thing it wouldn't matter to them.

>Why pay a prompter when you can just download the program and do it yourself.
Yep, thats why i said AI-assisted. The assistance part would be enough to customise the results to make meaningful yet cheap enough alterations to the results. Lets say you want a model for your vtuber persona. You can take the character sheet trained model or whatever and have 1000 choices in 30 minutes. But they will all look the same in artistic expression, like value choices, proportions etc, complete with AI illogical forms and errors that don't translate at all into animateable form. That's where the artist comes in and touches up those parts. For a brief period they WILL look great. Instead of paying the cheapest artist you can find which will give you cheap but also artistically amateurish looking model, you can get an affordable competent looking AI model with artists touch ups. The problem - in due time you will look the same as most other AI-assisted cheapo chubas.
>It would functionally make the art market equivalent to fast fashion sweatshops

Ive heard people hypothesize this. (Mainly concept artists and character designers)

>Problem is that isn't a quick job in an already low paid profession.
It's not a quick job for sure, you'd probably get a same turn around time, but the end result would be of a higher quality. I think the lowest non-scam vtuber model commission is like $500, you get a custom model with layers. No rigging etc. The turn around time for that would probably depend on where you live as well, 500 bucks is like a weeks work for me, in the US spending a week to get 500bucks might be poverty level depending on the city and would likely be unfeasable, so i don't blame some artists charging $2000-4000 for their work if it takes a few weeks or a month. But lets say you get someone to make a model from scratch in a week for 500. A week for a character is super fast and likely would come with a lot of cut corners and quality issues. That someone will have to come up with a design from scratch, make sketches and doodles before making a decision and leave enough time to draw the lineart and render it. That's a lot of work in a short span of time.
With AI, 80% of the design decisions are made for you, just roll the AI gacha machine for 1 hour. Probably 30-40% of the render/lineart work is already finished with that result as well. On top of that you have the generic yet competent facial and body proportions. (can browse twitch vtuber section to see the struggle in that respect with 'affordable' models). Then you have 4 days to customise and fix the model, separate parts into layers, draw overlaps etc.

This is purely theoretical of course, but with improving models specifically made to target vtubers, the amount of fixes you will need to do, like centering the model bodies and faces- will go down in the future somewhat as well. I see this sort of workflow flooding the market until incestuos nature of sharing the models that generate all that will get boring and tiring to look at. But for a while i think it will make economical sense for those artists who are in it for the most money in a shortest turnaround time and not artistic expression or they have no prestige identity of their own to upkeep and sell as an added bonus. And i don't think artists who'd want to make custom models with personal thought put into that could viably compete in that price range. I really hope that's not the case, this AI stuff seems to have echoe's of crypto and NFT hype and grifts. Maybe it will all burn itself out as well, after the fastest grifters make as much money as quick as possible, before the jig is up.

>> No.67133477

I think the seat not being there is easily explained. The chains/rope are either incredibly lazy or AI. I honestly think that, aside from the character, this artist is very, very lazy when it comes to backgrounds and details, or: the artist does use AI in some form to complete the picture, and their laziness extends to not being bothered to fill in the details to make it look like something (like a rope, like chains, or maybe even be creative and make it plant/wood like to go with her being a fairy)

How so? AI is real, it has a tangible effect anyone with a halfway decent PC can try locally.
There is no weird shady thing you have to put money into.
It's a raw technology that's still at the level of a toy but it's not a short term hype, it's the beginning of something that is changing the world in a small but tangible way that will only increase.
And there will be bumps, especially looking at AI in general rather than just art, there will be a LOT of missteps and cheap garbage, but overall I'm excited for the future.
The possibilities of AI are close to what I thought the future would be like as a little kid.

>> No.67134233

I mean it for AI art in this case, not the medical or military applications etc. Blockchain also has a legitimate purpose and technology behind it, but it's not being utilised as was initially sold, nor it made as big of an impact as initially pitched. And in the same vein as crypto the biggest scum you can find are flocking to AI to make big money as quick as possible, thus scams are in abundance, lazy AI generated ads are appearing on TV and magazines because some idiot decided to save some cash, AI people with AI voices are enticing you to click on malware links. AI bros masquerading as artists to gain popularity and audience. Scam spams promising you cheap commissions for your furry characters. Just like with crypto/nft the vast majority of people are clueless sure, but on the active parts of the internet where cultures collide and these grifts are made- AI movement has a bad and shady side to it, and probably just as bad if not worse ethical baggage as NFT's had when they would sell screenshots or even other peoples work as nft's. AI being made from material that wasn't given consent to, and results, like on midjourney, generating 1:1 imagery it was trained on, or making lists of artists to feed into their models, regardless of their constent. Just like with crypto and nfts, AI looked cool at first but the longer it went on the face of it looks just as rotten as those other mediums. I say this as someone who enjoys rolling stable diffusion gacha sometimes myself and have fun with it and enjoy what the /vtai/ threads are making. But the grifters and profiteers are just as abundant and disgusting as with the previous technologies.

And her seat would be on her lower back somewhere, instead of supporting her weight, which i can excuse as artist can make logical mistakes, though its probably AI failing at continuity and context.
