Most of Marine's success and why she caught up and surpassed pekora in subs and views can be attributed to one thing, she broke into the short game. The songs helped a lot, but it's the shorts that carried the major load. Having her songs get boosted in turn also boosts her overall algorithm exposure on youtube.
CCV is trickier to compare since they don't stream the same amount of time and most often the same type of content. I think it's reasonble to see that Marine's average and median would drop if she tried to push higher amounts of hours, but why she? I could be speaking out of my ass but I read somewhere the algorithm treats normal videos, shorts, and live streams separately. So a channel that puts out both Live videos and Shorts will trend in one or the other, but not both, forcing creators to pick and stick with one. Please correct me if my understanding is wrong.

Unless they've changed it in the last year they are indeed separate. And the category really is Vod/Live vs Short, which is why it works so well for Marine as she double dips in the form of short term content. Her music is what pushes her for the Vod/Live algo as MVs are part of the Vod section, and her shorts the other part.
And the main problem with overlapping isn't so much that you cannot "trend" in both but rather that converting viewers of one kind to the other is hard. On strict youtuber terms what you ideally would want is a short viewer to start watching your long form content, since long form views are worth more money, but those that watch shorts do so due to them being short after all. Shorts are shit for money, but great for subs.
This works better for Marine however, since her primary content by this stage is a cross over of Shorts and Songs, both a form of short quick and easy content.

Nope. I don't trust YT ccv views especially since in December 2020, all EN vtubers were hit with the ccv bug. A year later it happened to the jp's but it was fixed within a week because they complained. You can see it through the likes to live viewer numbers. People with mostly an audience from outside Japan like EN, will have over a 100% like to watching ratio. This is because there channels are set to Japan but since most of their viewers are from the U.S. or Europe, YT thinks they are bots and doesn't count all of them toward the ccv. On December 6, 2020, when the bug hit, the EN ccv dropped by 70%, IN ONE DAY. They didn't lose that many viewers in 1 day. This has been in place ever since and was never fixed. But it hit JP a year later and was fixed within a week. Gura had a karaoke in November 2020 that hit 120K live viewers. A couple weeks later in early December, after the ccv bug, it was only 50K. Come the fuck on. The like to watching ratio proves this for EN's side. Go look at theirs compared to JP. This like ratio thing also happened in December 2020. A coincidence? I think not

Retards will tell you it's bots, but it's the latent hololive fanbase. It wasn't the first time that Marine and Flare did a karaoke stream together and fans know that it's always great content - both funny and with good song selection that appeals to otaku fanbase. That's why people who wouldn't usually tune in to Marine's solo karaoke or Flare's solo karaoke stream tune in. Most of vtuber fans don't watch the same vtuber every time they stream. Of course, there are people like that, but that's just the hardcore fans that have only one single oshi. That's just a small part of the whole community of vtuber / hololive fans.

Most of those stream significantly more. Suisei does a ton of work outside of streams. Botan has literally double the number of streams as Aqua. Ayame and La+, yes they are on the verge of graduation.
