It's still more profitable than being 0.5view indie. I have no wish to defend nijisanji, but you faggots talk about it like it's a web dev market with thousands and thousands companies and positions.
There are like 5 companies that do en vtubing, and auditions proceed maybe once a year, excluding niji. Even if you do not become pekora-level of famous, you are still expose yourself to a larger audience and get to put out some music/do some expos and etc. I think for a lot of chubas it would be a boost, not downgrade. The problem is that if you are actually ambitious, the company will strangle you at some point.

Wasn't there an indie rant posted in the catalog basically outlining why being a small indie can suck? There's the crabs-in-a-bucket situation where there's an expectation that you constantly share your growth even with people you've never interacted with. Otherwise, you'll have to deal with a constant stream of acrimonious lies? There's only so many ways to gain relevance and there's a significant group that chose drama (it's easier to tear down someone else than it is to improve or build something themselves). Also, a lot of male vtubers are sexpests. Not very different from the flesh scene, since stories about male creators trying to extract some sexual concessions from their female collab partners has always been floating around.

They are given a visible platform and the ability to demonstrate their talent in a publicly traded company that if nothing else gives them the absolute bare minimum, a rigged model and a network of genmates/other nijis to easily collab with. on that note, the only reason in the first place why we have so much content coming out from NijiEN is precisely because Sayu called them back on all the bullshit they wrote in her graduation notice, had Niji just written a normal notice without mentioning what went wrong, things would be different.
