Having been a holo purist and occasionally checking out nijiJP's such as Shizuka Rin, I've never actually given Vshojo a shot. I want to give it an earnest try, but the stigma of low effort coombaiting (having Melody be an actual virtual porn star and zentreya being very likely a tranny) it just feels like a collection of avatars to fap to with no actual interesting content to watch or be part of.

Is it worth it getting into Vshojo after all, and is the stigma outdated/unfair?

Their personalities seem to just be their personalities, not forced by vshojo or twitch culture. Henya is the same as she was as Pikamee.
Twitch chat has the opportunity to be drastically more annoying than youtube chat through TTS, but that is a streamers choice to use. I just skip over reaction content.

I've never watched any corpos and didn't watch any vsjs other than mouse until after the bitch trio left, so from that perspective I find the stigma that they have here pretty bizarre. I have to assume a lot of the bad rep came from those three because it's not something I would assume on watching people in the group.
Mel makes silly sex jokes but she doesn't do what I would consider coombait at all on Twitch streams, she keeps that stuff to her CB work.
Zen's model is pretty sexual but her content isn't, it's very goofy and mostly her fucking around with tech and trolling her friends.
Haruka is autistic so she doesn't make or pick up on sexual jokes, but she hasn't streamed a lot lately as she's quite sick.
Geega outright says that she doesn't want lewd content made of her, she's practically the opposite of a GFE.
Froot doesn't stream a ton right now since she's focusing on creative work but she's live she's Gaming or doing whatever she wants that she's passionate about.
Matara is incredibly mom friend and tech illiterate almost to the point of being annoying, I don't think you'd like her if you're very set on idol culture as she has massive burnout partially due to that culture and wants to get away from it as much as she can.
Kson I think is similar to Matara in that way, I like her as a person but haven't watched her enough to describe her current content. A ton is in JP outside of collabs with vsj so it's not super watchable for EN anyway.
Kuro is a gay dork also similar to Matara in his approach towards vtubing, probably not for you.
Hime is a meme who doesn't stream, we all wish she'd remember how to go live because she's pretty funny but certainly not an idol.
Mouse... you've probably seen the most of Mouse in comparison to the others but she also has an extremely inaccurate reputation here and I'm fairly sure part of it is /#/ jealousy because I don't see any other valid reason for it. The vast majority of her content isn't react (that goes for pretty much all of them), it's chatting and for the last few months gaming collabs with tons of different people.

If you're still unsure, as other anons here have said just watch Henya. She's ultra wholesome and has a girlfriend who she pretends is just her roommate so she doesn't talk about couple things if that bothers you. All of the girls collab a ton with each other so you'll be slowly introduced to their personalities through that and may find someone else you gel with. BUT if you have a hardline stance against collabs with men and fleshies (which I don't understand at all as there's no sexual comments) then vsj isn't for you.

Kson as well as Coco is probably one of the most misrepresented VTubers when it comes to clips. Her dirty jokes are easy to clip and she definitely has no filter in that regard as if she still lives in the 2000s.

That being said her better content is hard to clip because it's her Japanese talking streams. It requires advanced Japanese skills + being informed about whats going on in Japan due to references to current occurences + knowledge about various subcultures in Japan. This was during a phase of them not knowing what to do, their previous hire before this was Veibae, someone that was already on their friend group. This lack of image made them take the awful idea of the auditions based on the thought of Hololive and Nijisanji doing it as well, no one wants to take the blame (although someone was fired and Mouse became quiet about this) but you can see why this hasn’t been done again and they went back to what “worked” with Veibae at the time.

Outside of the drama, which was really just one unfortunate case, they also have addressed one big concern outside of branding (which is why unironically Snuffy and Anny, two orbiters at the time didn’t make the cut), and that was taking opinions from the talents over who to hire. Imagine if HoloEN HAD a say on Advent or Promise, shit would actually stink, because at least with VShojo and outside of Zentreya at the time, none were that well connected outside of their circle and having a huge number of people auditioning. That’s why they never went back to it, probably knew it was a huge risk and went back to what worked, and hired Haruka because it was easy, already someone who knew everyone and everyone liked.

But when vtuber has an active roommate, post photos on socials, has history with internet, social media etc. that is public for anyone to see then it's not a dox.
