I liked this one, really impressive if you put it together as fast as you said you did. It checks all the boxes for a short and sweet romance piece. Feels like you have a talent to write intimate scenes without having to turn to smut per se, too (which doesn't mean I don't like smut - please write smut!). If you take a bit more time to expand on your scenes, you'll be on a great track to fuel the fire of a lot of fluffchads ITT, myself included.
Until then, I'll add this to the pile of short fics I come back to whenever I need something short and light to feel fluffy.

I'm typically a long term lurker and only occasionally check by to see whether there's a good Towa story for once, since maybe one day, there'll be one, but I often long figured not.
However, I've legitimately been floored by what you've written. As another anon, presumably another kenzoku, put it, I truly think you've hit the nail on the head on how to characterize Towa without it feeling like you've made a mockery of who she is and how she truly behaves. I'd honestly long given up hope on seeing anyone write (here) something that truly gets "it" in regards to her, something left only to the real thing and for those who experience her to get it. I honestly could see myself recommending this as a way of explaining why kenzoku are in love with her, it's simply that accurate, even if some things are obviously a tad fictionalized from her.
I know typically people try to provide critiques to help their future writings, but honestly, I can't really find faults in the narrative except a possible argument for the argument to be a bit "contrived", however I honestly believe it's also perfectly in line with Towa's character. There's some grammar/spelling issues at some point around the pool, where Anon randomly starts saying "yo" for like two phrases which just doesn't feel right, but that's nitpicking. If there's honestly something I'd have an issue with story wise, is that there's a happy ending, I think it could've hit harder emotionally if either both of them move on platonically, or that they never reach that resolution between the two of them simply left with their regret. But it doesn't really take anything from it that there is one, it's more of a personal preference, I enjoy seeing Towa happy myself, it just feels a tad weaker than the rest of what you wrote since my expectations were sort of leading to that bittersweet direction from how the rest was written, perhaps if it was elaborated it would feel more fitting, but I might also just be projecting my desire for more Towa fluff.

Thank you for the glowing review, I'm glad you liked it. I'm honored that you consider it one of your favorites. If you're DwtDAnon then I accomplished my goal of making it hit your standard. I'm glad to hear that you think I got Towa characterized well since I found her difficult to write at times.
The idea for Towa was that since it's pre-hololive she's a bit unconfident and nervous but wants a connection and that the current more outwardly goofy Towa would be post-debut. So I'm glad that came through
Thanks for your words about their dynamic and the scenery as well, if there's one thing I'm confident in my writing, it's setting up a scene.

In regards to your criticisms: I was fairly concerned with keeping the story going, especially when it became apparent to me that it was going to be long. I could write dialog all day so I apologize if sometimes it seems brisk
The argument is one of those things where I needed to happen to progress the narrative. Since this was based on someone's dream, there are gaps in between the cat dying, Towa disappearing, and the reunion. I needed a reason for Towa to dip that left room for the possibility of a reunion. Towa doesn't strike me as a person to just disappear like that and leave Anon behind, so I used the idea of emotions running out of control as a sleight of hand since both don't really mean what they are saying.
If it feels inorganic or forced, it's because I had to bridge dream logic. I did try hard to make the scene work and be impactful so I am a bit disappointed to hear that.
I wanted to include a kiss but couldn't find a spot for it, gomen.

I was pretty concerned with scope creep with this one. I tended to write too much so I try and be conscious of word count. There was also the feeling of it kind of taking a lot of presence in my life. Too many times where I thought "Man, I could be doing shorter WIPs right now." But luckily my autism is too strong. Thanks though, those words mean a lot.

Thanks for the review. I've watched Towa a bit here and there before but I try and do as much extra research as I can. So like with the other kenzoku, let me say that I am very glad to hear I got her. My goal with each fic is to make their fans happy with the portrayal. By all means, feel free to shill it.

As I mentioned previously it would have been ideal for me to spend more time refining this, but I guess I've missed that chance. As for the Kuro fic, I just couldn't figure out where to take it honestly. lurkerzoku here, to backseat as another kenzoku, in regards to characterizing Towa in a true to life manner, I think the flaw fundamentally as you've written her is that she's a bit too naive/embarrassed easily, without any real bite back to her, a large portion of Towa's charm (to me) is that she will alternate between that bite and sincereness, or as others call it, her mental instability, her ability to switch on a dime. I think if you develop her to have some confidence and be more independent, closer to her confidence at the start of chapter 1, and not a remote controlled car with that slight bite, I think you can achieve a more true to life portrayal of her. I think you have the sincerity and a bit of her naivete down and the scenario of which is honestly quite good for this scenario.
I'm not sure if you've read the official holomanga with Towa, but I think it achieves a slightly similar idea, thought different, of what you're doing of throwing Towa into a very new scenario and showcasing her naivete and eagerness to learn but still allowing her to have some bite/straight-man appeal to her. Regardless, I do enjoy the story and am thankful someone is writing a consistent fluffier/happier story, not everything has to be perfect to life, it's fan fiction after all. I don't think you've "failed" in characterizing her.

I won't snub shorter fics because they're SFW, but lack of smut is something that unequivocally turns me off any romance-focused long-form fic because even if I don't plan on jerking off to it, smut feels like a critical part of a relationship's evolution. I think Our Cures, for example, would have suffered greatly without Anon and Yammers finally bumping uglies - and I never beat off to it.

Doesn't feel right, for me anyway. I don't get the same rush of emotions from a fade-to-black ~and then they fucked~. Come to think of it, it just makes me irrationally annoyed, as if I've been cheated out of the pinnacle of the story. Romance usually works by building layers upon layers of suspense until it's so thick you can physically feel it; the confession is like this crowning moment where it's all shed and the subsequent canoodling like animals capitalizes on the investment that the reader has poured in.

I disagree, and agree.
Smut is inherently pronographic, and thus should be there for the purpose of the reader wanking it. However, I don't believe it's the consummation or peak of the relationship. You can absolutely use smut as a part to move the narrative, have the characters play off what they've built. Maybe they laugh about it, maybe they tease each other, hundreds of things can happen during a smut scene that solidifies what's been established. But, it doesn't necessarily need a full paragraph of "And so he dug himself deep in her cunt, deeper than the marianas trench, if the marianas trench were 6 inches long. His balls flew to and fro, slapping both his buttcheeks and his partner's. Meanwhile, [Chuuba] moans were so fucking primal she started making sounds like [Animal chuuba is based on] on mating season getting fucked by fucked by a horse that could knot."

There are points where the story moves past the need for smut, where you just know the characters, and you know they're gonna fuck, but you don't need to see it.

Either go all out with a smut scene every 5-10k words or don't have one at all. I hate that gay visual novel shit where you read 300k words and then get one pity sex scene at the end.
