They were groundbreaking for their time, but a lot of it was due to the lack of competition. In hindsight, they didn't have a strong generational bond compared to other Hololive generations, and are beaten in that regard by both Promise (which is clearly better since spitting out Sana, one of Cover's worst hires ever, and fully incorporating IRyS) and Advent.

Gura's exact peak was 'a' and it was all downhill from there. Shes the equivalent of the generic dark shounen/soft seinen manga with a really good pilot and amazing art, but that gets dropped after a year because its clear that the writer ran out of ideas by the end of the sixth chapter.
