It depends, there are some chatters that obviously think it's all about them, and more that are just trying to groom.
Ignoring chat isn't a big issue. Streamers and chuubas alike are dumb and don't have enough attention to deal with chat. Any semblance that they can respond to chat is mostly just a practiced act. Otherwise, most misread simple messages or don't pick up on things spelled out for them.
It's a non-issue because of how wide spread it it.
There are bigger things that turn people off. Like if you can't be bothered to fix your mic, or you keep going off on racist and sexist tangents. That's what kills small streams and nobody bothers posting threads about it.
Your problem will never get fixed though, because everybody can stand to lose a handful of attention starved narcissists.

not a pet peeve but whenever I go to a 2view stream I instinctually start writing jokes in chat which then turns into a competition to become funnier than the streamer themselves

I'm a 2view expert and see this a lot. I respect that some of them just want to keep chat at arm's length so I don't get mad but there are tons of 2views that will treat me like a person so there's no reason to spend time on one that ignores me.
