It's a good thing if you're not some kind of weird schizo purist. They also don't require gloves for handcam streams.

It absolutely does have merit. A common recurring theme among Matara since debut was feeling trapped in her old workplace because she was given a shitload more popularity for absolutely nothing. A big company takes a small time streamer and makes them big through association with their brand, and psychologically that can make them feel like they owe all their fame to the brand and they'll fail without it. That's also what keeps some of them in obviously unhappy work situations. The fear of failure from leaving. Being able to continue being Kson, or Henya, or Matara, or Kuro even if they decide to leave is a huge plus since any money they've poured into their own brand wouldn't have been wasted.
