Vtubing is a niche inside of a much bigger niche. Getting people who like to watch streams to watch an anime girl act cute is going to cut down on potential viewers a ton. At this point, most people who wanted to look at/watch them are here and have picked favorites. There will never be another big boom in the West (unless anime somehow gets more people in than already watch). It sucks, but you're kinda stuck where you're at and just getting a trickle of newer viewers at best or eating the lunch of other coworkers at worst.
