[Randonneuring Wikipasta Guy No.]

Randonneuring (also known as Audax in the UK, Australia and Brazil) is a long-distance cycling sport with its origins in audax cycling. In randonneuring, riders attempt courses of 200km or more, passing through predetermined "controls" (checkpoints) every few tens of kilometres. Riders aim to complete the course within specified time limits, and receive equal recognition regardless of their finishing order. Riders may travel in groups or alone as they wish, and are expected to be self-sufficient between controls. I don't see how it's possible for the issue to be a particular artist's style, unless it's something that actually can't exist in 3D space, such as certain kinds of anime faces. Live2Ds are just motion graphics that get information about their motion from a webcam, so it would have to be a disagreement between the art and rigging about angles, lighting, etc.

Outside of shit that's just poorly drawn, the problem with most bad models is fucked up rendering, including shading, color palettes. temperature, and saturation. Designing and rendering are hard, and not all styles are going to lend themselves to mainstream vtiubing.
Normally you wouldn't give much thought to these problems and keep scrolling, but they are impossible to ignore when the flaws are highlighted in animation and you're going to be staring at this thing for hours during streams.

If I had to guess, probably because innumerable royalty free songs in many different styles already exist, so paying for new ones is not completely mandatory. Dova and Kevin MacLeod alone are enough to satisfy anyone without a specific vision. Meanwhile, royalty free vtuber assets are a rarity by comparison, and need to somewhat match the vtuber's visual style. Needing to pay for a new one is much more likely, so music gets cut from tight budgets.

Because out of all media consumptions by general public the music one is the most secondary. People consume it all the time, but never really thinking into it too much, so that's why it often comes as unimportant or secondary. Not to mention the fact, that's way easier to estimate art quality (emotes, models etc) while having pretty much zero knowledge about it, but with music it becomes kinda blurry. Average guy with undeveloped musical ear can distinguish sound recording of public toilet from sonata, but decent bgm from a bad bgm? I'm not so sure. Thats my thoughts on that t.musicanon

tl;dr, I think there's a kind of symbiosis between the two mediums which encourages the consumption of each other in the time window each is weak at. But it's unlikely for someone to consider that dynamic when trying to get people's internet attention in the immediate, which visual art is usually the correct answer for. So vtuber models can become extremely visually loud, for better and/or worse, but they still have a royalty free BGM that everyone's heard before playing behind them.

I see plenty of vtubers going back and revamping things later when they have more money but then they're still using the same 2 low budget tracks everyone else is using. Good chance. And as far as I know, there's no good way to have dynamic music as a streamer, so you can't be sure that the music will match what's happening anyway. It's an even bigger hurdle to program than for video games, where the danger/combat track fades in as you approach enemies, since there's no game state to be tracked by the music. Maybe you could do something with the tracking data of their model, but anything I can think of is a glorified hotkey. Alternatively, maybe something could be done to match the streamer's tone of voice to song emotions, and fade songs in/out accordingly.
