Nta but I'm not mad at Gura, just extremely disappointed. I watched HoloJP before she debuted, but I cannot deny that the charisma and character she showed when she streamed was unique. Not enough to become my oshi, but definitely admirable. I'd even fucked up my sleep schedule to catch her late night streams (EUfag). However, at around the 1.5year mark, I saw the cracks forming, and just after the 2nd year anniversary I dropped my membership. She was becoming less and less enthusiastic about streaming, streaming less, being flakey, taking breaks etc. The long "health break" arc she started last year (that is basically still ongoing) was the final straw, and I dropped her entirely. And before you claim I'm a fairweather fan, I stuck through Miko's, Korone's and Marine's health breaks, keeping my memberships and supporting them until they returned. The difference is, they were as open as they could be about the problems they were facing, and they kept regular contact with their fans. Gura did not and does not do that, so I could not continue to support her since I saw she did not care for my support.
I don't hate her nor do I want her to graduate, as she's valuable to Hololive as a cute mascot character with high numbers, but I cannot hide my disappointment on how she has handled her career the past 18 months. I just wish chumbuds gathered their forces enough to at least get her to talk to us (Hololive fans) about what's going on, so maybe we can cut her some slack, but her silence and apathy is, frankly, annoying and repulsive.

I feel as though that is just a mismatch between you and her. Gura from the get go was never someone that was very open about her real life, which in many cases is actually a virtue (such as not talking about boyfriends, periods, [insert political opinion of the day], etc), so watching her for 1.5 years and still not understanding or accepting that part of her (and knowing that she's not doing that to hurt you, or because she doesn't care about you, but just can't show her appreciation for you in that way, and instead taking it as a personal slight) shows that she just wasn't the right one for you all along.
Communicating like that online is clearly VERY stressful for her, and while you might say it's a bit ridiculous for an online persona to be like that or even point it out as a flaw (again some people actually prefer that) is quite selfish. Again, it's fine to be selfish regarding your entertainment source, but it really shouldn't be a reason to try rallying up a revolution (as if that'd help with the stress problem) or being "disappointed" in her, when that should've been very predictable from the get go. You were just blind to it or hoped she'd change but she didn't.
Again is it fine to have understood that she had a problem and that you wished she'd improve over time? Yes, I too wish she communicates more, but I feel it is unfair to be seriously (to the point it stirs some negative feelings) disappointed in her over it. She just didn't grow up to fill that one particular aspect that you wish she did more of, but she did in no way deteriorate in that respect over time considerably (breaks excluded for obvious reasons, as they are breaks).
Now regarding the communication during breaks and the comparisons to others (again in my opinion, a bit off the mark in terms of what we are discussing so far, and unfair as different people are, well, different) I feel like this statement of her "not being clear" about her breaks is just false. She is vague about the reasons why, yes sure. but she did mention that this would be the new normal for now, she did say back in her original break that she had an issue that would stop her from being able to stream consistently for quite a while, and she did say thatshe wants to do more for us but can't. Again she didn't go in-depth about the why, but this is something that I feel should be easy for someone that holds positive feelings for her to skip over, as if you do, you tend to trust her to some degree, or at least think that she wouldn't lie to you unecessarily just for the fun of it. As such if she says she wants to stream and interact with us, mostly shows it on her behaviour in stream (trying to keep things positive and so on, even if it is rare), and you have really no reason to doubt what she says (no posts in notgura twitter for example or other tangible rrats), it seems fairly easy to just take her words as the truth and patiently wait for her to be back when whatever is ailing her is gone. You don't really lose anything by doing this, and even if you did try to take action nothing positive really would happen as a result of it so why bother.
As a chumbud, again I wish she streamed or talked to us more, but although I love her, I don't really consider her silence apathy or annoying and repulsive. It is unfortunate, but doesn't change the fact that if she ever streams again she's still the person most suitable for entertaining me, and being angry about her and some of her flaws would just spoil a good thing for me.

Though is should mention, the talk about numbers and her being a mascot is a purely pragmatic point of view. She's part of Hololive, and if she boosts the popularity of the brand in any way, that trickles down to a boost of my oshi's popularity, and vice versa. I want my oshi to do well so anything that supports her career, in this case Gura bringing in popularity or, for another example, Calli having popular songs, gets a pass from me.
Regarding the bullying/revolution talk, I never said chumbuds should do that. I don't ask of you to grill her and demand of her an explanation through ultimatums, but I ask of you to consider how her JP senpais have handled similar situations before, and how her handling of her situation can reflect badly on her image. And again, I care about her image both because I care about Gura as a person and wish her well, but also because her image is tied to Hololive's, and thus my oshi's popularity. This is what I want chumbuds and Gura to understand. Her behaviours isn't just about her, it reflects on the whole of Hololive, especially in the west, and since that affects the chuubas I watch and support, her (lack of) efforts are indeed disgruntling to me.
I understand that Gura is not an open person. As you've said, after watching her for 18 months, it's something that I gathered from her streams. It is also something I hoped she would change. She didn't, rather she became worse, which is why I'm disappointed. You say that is likely due to a disconnect between my expectations and her actual behaviour, and I agree, which is why I stopped following her. She didn't appeal to me as much anymore, at least not enough to keep fucking up my schedule, so I stopped watching. It's not like I've been going around making threads shitting on chumbuds or anything, I let them deal with their oshi as they please. That doesn't mean, however, that my feelings of discontent on how she developed as a streamer are going to go away.

This is a point I want to actually quote and contest, because I don't think I have "no reason" to doubt her. This is info I gathered on /vt/ so I take it with a grain of salt, but over the last 6 months or so, it seemed like she promised multiple times to do better, to communicate more, to stream more etc, yet she never followed up to any of that, at least not for long. I'm sorry to say this to loyal chumbuds, but I have different standards set by the JP Holos, and have various frames of reference on how such situations are/should be handled, so I cannot say I agree with you saying comparison with others is unfair. Sure, each streamer is their own individual, but when they are entangled like Hololive is, some comparison is to be expected, and Gura's handling is subpar. Again, I'm fine with leaving you guys (chumbuds) to deal with that, but from the moment that starts to influence the branch or the whole company, I will unfortunately have to voice my opposition. It's for the same reason I dislike how Ayame, Shion and Laplus have chosen to progress their careers, but those are different matters.
All in all, I appreciate Gura as an entertainer, but, like it or not, she has become one of the faces of the company, so this isn't just her own problem anymore, it also affects her colleagues. This no doubt places more stress on her, and I do kind of feel bad for her for that (suffering from success isn't just a meme) but, unfortunately, that's how it is. I think and hope she should grow up, get the help she needs, and get back on her feet, which is not going to happen if she keeps avoiding everyone.

First of all the mascot point just rings hollow to me. These aren't sport players or whatever, every single one of them is essentially a mascot for hololive directed at a slightly different demographic, yes some of them stream more and some less, but that's just one of the many characteristics that differ from each other. The distinction between a corpo vtuber and a mascot is basically semantic when you consider that streaming really isn't hard enough to be considered a real job "hurr durr why can't Gura at least do that when it's so easy"--> read the other posts in this chain retard and the hardest part of her idol job is something that she still actively involves herself injust because you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't there, read: vampire cover, her as-of-yet-unreleased originals, the many other projects she has said that have gotten canceled after a lot of work has been completed in its production, etc (and again if you just don't believe her with literally no evidence to the contrary and with plenty of evidence that supports what she has said, you are just being an anti, and this whole argument is moot). Many, many of the things that an idol does so does a mascot do, many of them want to become some sort of mascots as well, and if its essentially an argument of how much a streamer has to stream in a certain time period to not be a mascot and be an idol instead it's, again, a pointless, subjective argument about something that I really struggle to see why some people consider it so negative and thus, why it is repeatedly brought up for essentially no reason.

That said, the argument about Gura's popularity affecting other members is true and it's something I can't refute, but it's also a bit dumb. I'm sorry to keep insulting these arguments that you made like this, but they really ring hollow to me. I'll explain why i think this in 2 bullet points:

1) This is a negative opinion that only exists if you prefer another talent over Gura, which pretty much instantly means that you aren't really a chumbud (I know you've stated this before, but just saying that if this argument applies to anyone, they are essentially already not really that important comparatively to other chumbuds or Gura (at least not as much) and as such is pointless (as that problem is only a problem because you aren't a fan of her to begin with, sort of circularly)

2) Gura really isn't that bad. I've stated this before but when Gura streams she is the best in her niche (that is honestly barely a niche if you consider the overall size of the vtuber community in the west, you could just say that she is the best and it'd be true no matter how mad some anons will be about it). She is positive, charismatic, creates and advances plotlines and is overall a joy to have join in on streams. Now you say, that isn't really what I meant, when she isn't streaming, when she doesn't interact it gives a negative image to hololive. You know what gives the most negative image to the company? Shitstorms, drama, and shitting on the company. In myth, it is undeniable that Gura is the one that caused the least of these issue by far, and it's not even close. Maybe you could point out Ina for this, but then you have the whole Sana issue, and although it is unfair to say that she is entirely to blame for that, it is one of the most negative events that happened to EN so far so even if her contribution to that is small, I'd still chalk it up there somewhat. Sorry for throwing her under the bus here a bit takos, my intent is not to shitstir stuff merely give my most honest opinion. Outside of this, what are the negative attitudes that can hurt hololives image? Showing that Idols aren't slaves to the company? That they can, if they feel like it, basically just gtfo and fuck off for months on end? I'd say this is even a positive in hololives image, it's very hard to say that they are a black company grinding the talents down to stumps, if one of them just fucks off and they say literally nothing (and i have certainly noticed a decline in that sort of argumentation in the recent past too)
No words left so i'll get to it: Gura said that she'd do better, and if you are a fan its very easy to believe that she is doing her best for us, no copium required. Just because her best isn't amazing right now, doesn't mean she isn't doing that, life just sucks sometimes, it is what it is. The negative effects she might've had on the company are laughable at best, when compared to shit like holizontal, regloss handling, etc. In terms of her attitude being bad, unless you are predisposed to see it that way, she's been, if stressed, really sweet and caring about how she words things: See La+, suisei, etc. In terms of absences there have been worse events (no words to expand)
