I had to put a pause on my Holoctober writings and I finally have a free day to catch up on them, that being said I need some advice.
How does one write about "Monochrome"?

My mind goes toward a melancholy atmosphere. It’s depressing to write a story that’s nonstop drear, but that’s the tone I get from that word. Everything sucks and nothing is happy for long.

However, one could also interpret it in a moral sense, though I guess gray does count as monochrome too, so it shoots that meaning in the foot.

That's an interesting one to think about. Like another anon said going with a bleak and dreary atmosphere can cover it in one sense. Another route you can go with is how like monochrome has both its darks and lights, so can your characters. You could showcase the two extremes of emotion or morality while possibly driving home that whatever the outcomes or desires are, they are both needed for balance.

A lot of the rhymes feel forced and there really isn't a good sense of what's going on other than the speaker having a mental breakdown. I wouldn't have guessed it was suicidal ideation if it wasn't stated and the title should have more to do with the poem. That being said, it's really hard to write poetry about chuubas so I commend you for your effort. It's probably the best poem in the archive so far. My advice would be not to shackle yourself to a rhyme scheme. Read poets like E.E. Cummings and Langston Hughes. And if you do use a rhyme scheme then you have to use words that sound natural. Read haiku to get that visual aspect down because poetry is capable of much more vivid imagery than prose. The Korean is a reference to a Korean who translates a lot of fics. He translated a fubuki poem into prose.
