I cried a lot watching the VoD and the other member's streams
I expected to be heartbroken, but knowing it ended up being a happy celebration with smiles and tears helps me be at ease. It's gonna be a painful few days, or weeks, maybe months, but Gen 4 has clearly showed a lot of growth and I know they'll be able to get over everything while Coco looks on from afar. Holohouse will still be a thing, and considering Kanata referred to Coco as family, I have hope that it's going to keep existing for a few years down the line.
Seeing Kanata and Fubuki break down after having stayed strong for sake of the audience the past month is painful but comforting.
As for me, it's finally time to chip away at my backlog, starting with Yakuza 0.

It's sad because it was literally a true story, and it has one of the worst endings possible. Coco was an outsider who wanted to join into an idol group where she didn't quite fit in because it looked fun. She learned their idol ways, and offered them her unique talents, becoming a core member of the community loved by all despite her differences. Or because of her differences, even. And everyone was happy. For a time.

And then the group changed around her, essentially due to corporate greed, into a place where her unique traits no longer felt welcome. She had the choice of either pretending to be something she isn't, or be true to herself and move on. So she departs.

Also it's a parody of a Little Mermaid song, and her story is basically the opposite of that story. It's like if Ariel married the prince, and then they lived happily for like a year and a half, then Ariel gets hit by a car, and Eric's insurance doesn't cover the cost of the hospital stay and recovery and the financial burden causes him to resent her so they divorce, then Ariel just goes back to the ocean.

Somehow the graduation didn't hit as hard as I thought it would. The yonkisei letters made me cry of course, but everything before that was pretty lighthearted. There was so much "I wish we got to collab more together" that made me want to say "then why the hell are you leaving?" even though I know and I can't blame her. The live was sweet but it ended undramatically on a funny song and a simple exit. Maybe I was just too emotionally drained to appreciate it. I'm incapable of comprehending that coco will never show up again in future events. That she'll never be seen in a collab pulling wacky shenanigans and bridging the gap with foreign fans and her holomates. It's multiple things.
She's no longer happy doing what she's been doing as a Vtuber and graduated to "protect her smile".
Creative differences is one of the big reasons. She wanted to do this thing, while Hololive wants to do another thing.
Another thing she mentioned is that she started getting a negative mindset where she started comparing herself to other Hololive members and becoming more jaded.
Though not explicitly mentioned, you can infer that the Taiwan incident played a role in it. It ultimately caused Cover to beextremely overprotective of all the talents, stifling creativity due to all the management hoops and hurdles you have to go through to approve some those creative ideas. This lead to the end of Asacoco, Kanata's news segment, Haachama's 1st schizo arc, and other projects we may not know of.
That's why at the end, she reiterated the message of "never stop pushing the limits of creativity" to HoloEN on her graduation (said once before on Kiara's Holotalk).
On top of that there might have been health issues due to the stress. There was that one time where half her face was frozen (almost like a stroke symptom) and when she went to the hospital, they said it was caused due to stress.
Lastly, she would rather go out with a bang than stay comfy and coast to the end. She paved the way for a lot of trends and templates in Hololive and Vtubers as a whole. Her graduation will be one of those too.

Listen Tatsunokos, I believe that things will get better from now on, we haven't reached the true ending yet.
I believe that one day we will see Coco's graduation as a necessary step towards something better, we just can't see what that something is yet. We're too close to the puzzle that we can't see how everything will connect as a greater picture.
The circumstances around the graduation and events that have transpired during this period make me believe that it was meant to be, kind of like a feeling that we actually are on the right timeline. The moment you tag it as creative differences, people will automatically criticize the output. Which is also what happened to Coco. That's why people pointed out projects that won't push through and content restrictions.
