To be clear I don't dislike Nerissa at all and hope she figures things out.
Covers and originals are very hit and miss, I mean look how strong Mori started and she's had a fair amount of misses and struggled to keep people interested in her music at times. It'll be very hard if that's all she's got. Usually the successful music members have a solid core audience that are interested in something more then just their music. If she can turn things around with some good karaoke streams, as one example, that would be huge boon to her build a core audience.

I'll fully admit I'm a tourist to this general, but there's a question I've always been curious about. Especially in the case of Hololive, why so much focus on CCVs, and to a lesser extent subs? You all would know better than I would, but aren't there JP members whose numbers have been "grim" since practically the very beginning? I remember that being a pretty big part of Aki's arc, for instance. Clearly Cover doesn't care, because they're still there. I don't think I can even think of a single example of Cover dropping a talent just because they couldn't pull the requisite numbers.

Is it just that CCVs and subs are easy numbers to track, so you use what you have? Conversely, from a business perspective, isn't most of Cover's revenue from SCs and memberships? Genuinely asking questions, hope I'm not coming across as trying to shitpost.

Cover's main revenue source is not so much "Superchats and Memberships" (although those are a significant percentage of profits, they are not an overwhelmingly large segment), but their merch sales (which are HUGE). THAT is where the money is at the moment. SCs and Memberships are probably #3 and #4 in revenue, behind Merch at #1 and Sponsorships at #2.

The only accurate thing that CCV tracks is how many are interested in tuning in. That's it. It has nothing to do with quality or value amongst a streamer. Things either slightly grow (like how EN is, even if the loss of the debut buff is clouding that at the moment for some people, or how JP is in the aggregate) or slightly shrink (like how a lot of the IDs have been outside of Kaela and Kobo, or how Niji/Vshojo have been) over the long.
There's nothing wrong with being niche. I won't say that everyone HAS to aim for the top.
But if you aren't aiming to grow, you're going to shrink. That's just a truth of the world.
