TWbro/Surai Channel has a bunch of the more noteworthy fights clipped on his channel for easy consumption, so you could always go through those first - that way there's no need to go through all the crashes / match setups inbetween.
Don't feel like you need to go through all of the VODs; storyline cutscenes like the Coco arc are a fairly recent thing (beginning in Stream 21, iirc) and the streams usually have a bunch of matches that don't tie into a storyline/have a lasting effect.

Storyline and special match content started picking up after Stream 15 after the final debut of Kiara, so that'd be a good place to start. Most of the more memorable matches from before then are on TWbro's channel.

The promos do a pretty good job of summing up some of the early character arcs and culture changes too, so you could go through those.
