I just watched a chuuba for 3-5 hours, the odds I have it in me to stick around for even another half hour instead of going to do something else (or usually, sleeping) aren't high

I was doing that on my PL and got super burnt out from the editing and reformatting, uploading the VODs took upwards of 4-5 hours too. Altogether I could spend upwards of 24 hours trying to put a high quality VOD up (Shotcut's freakishly high export time didn't help). Had to spend on external drives too because the recordings would end up being upwards of 80-90GB after reformatting/upscaling. Eventually I was streaming less because all the post work was so cumbersome. Since I don't need to do all that extra work now, I can just focus on streams while making other forms of content, primarily shorts.

Well like I said, I'm not completely devoted to YouTube, it's just a platform but one I think I have a better long term prospect on. If I no longer feel that way, I'll give Twitch another go. My last spell on Twitch was ABYSMAL and I only picked up an (albeit small) audience after going to YouTube. I'm happy with how things are going for now. If that changes, you'll find me on Twitch. Current goal is to give it a few months and see how things shake out, and assess if partnership in 1 year is a possibility.

Literally in my first day creating content I became aware of threads for indies on this board. I find a lot of these kind of emotes are kind of bad when they are actually used in chat. The actual emotes are so tiny and all the identifying features have been rendered unidentifyable so that it's difficult to see what concept the emote is actually trying to convey. In this way the emotes basically all being copies of other emotes is kind of nice because it allows you to easily guess which emote it is a copy of. If you are actually innovative with your emotes it's less likely people will recognize what the emote actually is when they use it.

Yep, this is the big benefit. Even if I wasn't pulling live viewers, there'd be people who watched the VODs. You don't get that on Twitch. Even now, I'm starting to pull the same crossover audience I had on my old channel, and those people are primarily vodwatchers. YouTube has a kind of safety net in that way, whereas if you're floundering on Twitch, you have to just keep grinding it out hoping it'll change.
