Outside of the wacky crossover stuff with gen2, this seems like a solid cyoa.
Honestly the only real problem is that everything feels so parallel to each other, so there's not really much in the way of weighing choices given how split off everything is.

No it has been a while but I'm pretty sure the hornyposting that came out of Kronii's debut came purely from debut era horniness from model and lore.
Though even now years later I still have no idea how hundreds of short horny fics came out of that place in such short of a time. Like the novelite archive also has a shitload but from what I can tell that's the entire fanbase, the clock archive during debut was just a bunch of horny writers in a 4chan thread.

I hate to say it, but your greentext was better, it was shorter, more to the point, and still kept the same ending touch. Frankly, the expanded prose just felt like it was adding words but not depth to the story. I think if you want to get better at making greentext to prose you need to focus on the kind of details that the greentext can't do rather than just focusing on fleshing out the original outline.

I reread this fic, and it was still painful to read. Not because it was terrible or anything, but because the quality of the writing mogs mine so thoroughly. What takes me a paragraph to impart to the reader, this fic does in one or two sentences. In a second person POV, no less! These lines, man:
>Even with her at your side, you are left alone with a divide torn between you. Without wings, you never had any hope of crossing.
>She rests her head on your shoulder, but you don't feel anything. Though your skin tingles and the weight presses into you, you know better.
>Just the entire conversation at the cemetery.
>The porch scene.
>Anon's whole conversation with his son.
>You decide to start walking. You didn't know where, and you wouldn't get far. You just didn't see much point in keeping the bench warm any longer.
These lines fucking killed me.
The writing, the plot, the dialogue - it all oozes with this bittersweet kind of melancholy where you know the end is near but have to make peace with it. Anon goes through all the stages of grief and it feels so raw that I'm too caught up to notice anything else wrong with the story. Man, what a depressingly good fic. I feel like I need a smoke.
Author, if you're reading this, tell me. Do they get to reunite in the end? Throw me a bone, a cryptic message, anything that signifies Anon and Ina will be all right.

NTA, but it was clear to me that the writer for The Perfect Day went over it in a couple drafts. Sometimes the difference is just reading it through and finding better lines to replace the filler. Also, having a clear idea about things like mood, theme, climax, and conflict will help you stay narrowed, because then you can constantly ask yourself how the lines support the theme, etc.
If you keep writing, you will write thongs better than The Perfect Day, and that's not a knock on The Perfect Day at all, because it was very good.

True. Everything in the fic from the dialogue, the prose, and the interactions - all of it was so laser-like in imparting how it feels to come to terms with the end. You just gotta admire the workmanship that went into it, you know? Writing and rewriting those drafts until you get it just right. It can be a pain in the ass to copyedit even in the best of days.

First of all I just want to thank you, since I dont think I've gotten a big write up before and I appreciate the hell out of that

The way I wrote this one is kind of different from my other ones, but the commonality is that I very rarely have to rewrite anything. Most of the time, what happens is I get an idea, and set up a rough outline for scenes I want to see written eventually. Then whenever I get inspiration (which is typically when I am half-asleep or at work) I'll write down some dialogue or some piece I want to incorporate somehow. It's all very patchwork until it isn't, and once more scenes get written, I have more opportunities to insert better quirky one-liners and such.

So in my opinion, writing quality is going to heavily depend on your foundation and your sense of inspiration. Unironically the best advice I can possibly give is to find out when you get motivated/interested and then try to get yourself in a "writing mood" as much as possible. If you do get inspiration and still find it lacking, then what that other anon said is correct. Write more and read more and the stuff you internalize will just eventually give you a sense of what's cool to read. I would rather no one read the shit I wrote in middle school.

Anyways, I hope that's helpful in some way, since that's more of a personal process rather than any sort of schema for improvement. If I end up getting the cash prize Ill post some developer commentary to give you an idea of how far up your ass you have to sniff to write something like this

You know what's funny is that we work rather similarly when it comes to making a rough outline before doing the story. The difference is when it comes to writing the actual thing - you mentioned that you write whenever you get inspiration, while I write on a fixed schedule every day, even when it's a token effort. So you can just imagine how many times I would spend one of these writing sessions undoing some or even all of the previous day's work. I feel like I write more schlock than actual gems, but I can say have my moments here and there.
Sometimes though, yeah - when something amazing comes to mind, I'd fire up the computer even in the middle of the night. At worst, I'd write it in my phone to add it to the draft the next day.
Thanks for the advice, Anon. In the past weeks, I realized that I ought to read more stuff from both /here/ and outside to develop my writing more. I remember what other Anon said about writing being a process of 'collecting fragments from the world and then giving it back' or somesuch. There's just still so much for me to learn.

Oh man, you HAVE to be like that just to be able to write those emotions into the prose properly. Fuck, I recite dialogue to myself and read my shit aloud during writing sessions which is why I'll always live alone for as long as my fingers can still type. A behind-the-scenes would be nice though.

Ina sweep

Thank you to everyone who read and made me a 2vote writer. Now, as promised, I can finally go on my menhera ego arc and turn public opinion against me.

Before that, >>57832265 as promised here are some of the things I was thinking about while I wrote it. It took a few weeks to turn around in my head as opposed to Out of the Blue/Victory or Death which were more or less weekend pushes. I did want to use basically all of the themes for the contest and the idea basically sprung from there.

>theme prompts used: dream, embers, binding, seasons, ephemeral
>dream sequence at the start, plus the entire conflict behind whether Ina is "real"
>embers are referenced by the first dream ending, as well as Anon trying to keep his memory of Ina alive in general
>Anon is subconsciously keeping himself alive as well (binding) because he has not truly said his goodbyes to Ina. When he finally decides to let go, he is fulfilled and has unbound himself
>autumn is the season of grief/death as well as cyclical rebirth
>ephemeral: the truth of Ina, in this case, is never really spelled out and doesn't really matter to Anon by the end of it. It is something that can be perceived, but never truly grasped because humans are not fourth-dimensional eldritch beings
>"bird missing wings" symbolism call and receive in the graveyard
>sparrow symbolizes humility and companionship
>flashback death scene in present tense to better illustrate how good Anon's memory is of that day
>it takes 108 minutes for Ina to be taken away by the ambulance, which is the number of earthly temptations in Buddhism before you reach nirvana
>fic starts and ends at the park
>"keeping the bench warm" line symbolizes anon never letting go of Ina (hence the park being sacred in a sense), and by the end of the story he has said his goodbyes and no longer wishes to cling to the past

The fic goes to great lengths to argue that it doesn't really matter what Ina is, and I won't contradict that here half because it ruins the mystique, and half because I don't really know. The fact is that she's more real than a hallucination, which to Anon is good enough. Maybe Ina became an ascended being and merely thinking of her springs a little brain ghost into existence. Who knows. However, by the end, both Anon and Ina are dead for sure. Maybe that's a happy ending.

Well we probably need to address some of the issues that got pointed out pre-voting.
Should we split the categories further in future contests? The categories kind of speak for themselves with sfw and nsfw having split between comedy and drama, and nsfw having split between fics that are pure smut fics and fics that have sex but aren't intended to be smut fics. Maybe the contest should be split into genres instead of smut/ no smut?
Perhaps in the next contest we should put some limits so everyone doesn't have that "shoot for the stars" problem where like half make a concept that's amazing but is way too ambitious to write out in a month. Maybe by having hard word count limits we make sure the writers have something to shoot for?
I think the ranked choice voting works so I think we should keep the format for future contests.

It has to be hot, and setting the mood is important. Try to add a bit more foreplay, a bit more of teasing, some descriptions. Think of what would enhance a scene. an example would be writing how good pussy feels, the general smell, the clothes falling, certain actions like a girl opening her legs slowly or you whipping your dick, etc
>Think about the rythm
This is like real sex. 2 minutes is too little and 40 minutes its too much. Settle for a pace where you can take your time and paint a good picture, but press on when you feel like its taking too much. This is where describing how the sex is happening, how the characters feel, what's going through their heads can help, but remember to move along because 3 paragraphs of lamy describing how her boobs feel kills the mood

That's the question you should always ask yourself. Sex is hot because there's a hot babe its fine and dandy, but if you write impregnation you should adjust it so there's a focus on what makes impregnation hot, same with any fetish.
