As somebody who never superchats, I am very curious about the motivations of those that do donate to vtubers. I would really appreciate it if you could answer these questions
>What is the typical amount you donate per stream?
>How much do you donate monthly?
>Do you donate to a single vtuber or many, if many how many?
>What kind of message do you usually write?
>Why do you donate, is it just feeling particularly good/bad or to get some attention for a special day or something else?
>Do you ever feel like you donate too much, where the spending gets out of control?
>Your age, if you are happy to share
Everything is anonymous, so I really would like to hear your honest thoughts on this if you can. Maybe there are others who are curious too. Oh, and if you could please format your response using the greentext provided to make it easier to read.

Does it really matter? I mean, think of it like this. People with disposable income with dispose of it in a variety of ways. Some will buy food, others games, books, music, or they'll gamble it away at casinos or in gacha games.

Is any one use of that income better or worse than another? While many can debate the pros and cons to each, ultimately the answer is 'no'. If it makes you happy, and it's only disposable income you're utilizing, how it's being utilized is irrelevant (outside of obvious illegal situations).

If I wish to make myself, and someone else, feel happy by getting a chuckle out of them through a super chat I have purchased with disposable income, is that really all that different from throwing money at a gacha for a chance at a PNG waifu? Or purchasing a Manga you'll spend 30 minutes reading and will sit on a shelf for the rest of its life never to be touched again save when moving?

I donate when I can and I do it because I want to. Because it gives me a sense of joy, even more so if I move the vtuber in some way or another. If I make Bae awww or Ina laugh, I've made both them and myself happy for at least a few moments. And that's worth a few bucks in my opinion. Worth more than spending 20 bucks on a movie ticket, 30 on food, only to sit through a subpar film you'll wish you could forget ever happened once you've left.

I donate rarely and its never more than $10-20. The people that give more than that are insane.
Only 1-2 favourites. It's usually to ask them questions or alert them to something or to tell them how much I loved a certain song.

Having spare time after meeting, so I will entertain your survey post, OP
>What is the typical amount you donate per stream?
Varies. I don't SC most of the time, but I do buy membership and merchs. When I SC, it's either $50 or $100 during celebration (song releases, anniversary, birthday, or finishing a really fun game)
>How much do you donate monthly?
See above. It varies, but usually less than 500.
>Do you donate to a single vtuber or many, if many how many?
Only to my oshis, so 2.
>What kind of message do you usually write?
Light joking / teasing and congratulations.
>Why do you donate, is it just feeling particularly good/bad or to get some attention for a special day or something else?
I want to support my oshi, duh
>Do you ever feel like you donate too much, where the spending gets out of control?
No. Spent more money on various other things and it's well within my monthly hobby funds anyway.

500 yen every other stream. 1000 for a game I like. 50k or 100k for rare special occasions.
I want the number to go up. I feel good about the number going up. I want her to be successful. I don't care if she reads them. She reads my normal chats. I normally don't say anything in super chat.

I used to superchat, but I found it was turning it into a transactional relationship and raised my expectations too much. It was just setting me up for disappointment when they stopped streaming or streamed less. I'll still buy merch though.

Counting memberships? $20
Not counting membershi? I rarely donate.

>Do you donate to a single vtuber or many, if many how many?
3. Coincidentally checking my YT history I just noticed I have never donated to my oshi.

>What kind of message do you usually write?
Support messages.

>Why do you donate, is it just feeling particularly good/bad or to get some attention for a special day or something else?
I just want to support her.

>Do you ever feel like you donate too much, where the spending gets out of control?
Not with donations but I feel I spend too much on merch, specially these past months.

>What is the typical amount you donate per stream?
Depends on the stream, anywhere from $5-50
>How much do you donate monthly?
$300-400, sometimes a little less sometimes a little more.
>Do you donate to a single vtuber or many, if many how many?
A handful but 2 get the bulk.
>What kind of message do you usually write?
Depends on the kind of stream or if I feel like saying anything at all.
>Why do you donate, is it just feeling particularly good/bad or to get some attention for a special day or something else?
I mainly donate to smaller vtubers I enjoy just to show my appreciation and that I would like them to stick around.
>Do you ever feel like you donate too much, where the spending gets out of control?
No, I'm pretty good at knowing my financial limits.
>Your age, if you are happy to share

Atm its 3 different ones (Polka, Flare and Fauna).

Usually nothing too serious, just encouraging things or thanking for nice streams/events.

sure, i'm bored glowie
>What is the typical amount you donate per stream?
i do it infrequently, so difficult to calculate
>How much do you donate monthly?
approximately 100$ per month + membership, but it's very variable: i can do 0$ for months and then 500$ bucks if there's an eventful month
>Do you donate to a single vtuber or many, if many how many?
SC for oshi only, membership for many
>What kind of message do you usually write?
congratulatory, sometimes jokes
>Why do you donate, is it just feeling particularly good/bad or to get some attention for a special day or something else?
to show my appreciation and support the streamer, definitely not attention
>Do you ever feel like you donate too much, where the spending gets out of control?
not really, but again i don't donate large sums
>Your age, if you are happy to share
under 40 but over 20

the only real answer to this is more money than sense
not meant to insult these people, just a statement of fact.
vtubers have maximally exploited mental illness for profit and i respect it because it's better than being a drug dealer.

I only supa because the 2view I am watch doesn't have membership up, usually $5 to match the memberships standard.
For corpo chuubas, I will join their membership but no supas.
I believe in paying for my entertainment, and $5 a month for someone which give me entertainment daily is a good deal. It is also why I have a 4chan pass. Baiting you fags give me way more entertainment than the cost of the pass justifies.

$5 for channels I like maybe twice a year; also a few memberships.

On the one hand, you have to support the things you like if you want them to continue, but on the other, Super Chats are really only useful for streams where you have a question you want answered, but don't want to promise to be an income source like with memberships/Patreon.

Anything more than $5 seems like a waste of money, since they aren't desperate for money, and I don't care if they know who I am.

Paypigs are desperate and competitive for attention, so they send akasupas every stream. For mostly everyone else, they won't go above yellow supas. Don't feel bad for them, it makes their lives better, having the extra connection to their chuuba.
