Do able if your build isn't totally stupid but that's not really the design intention of the game. They encourage you to swap your build up and use all the tools given.

Personally I used the same build for the whole game once I unlocked the plasma cannons outside of the IBIS bossfight late into the game.

Outside of needing pulse weapons for 2 bosses in the game, there's a build like this: tank treads, 2 chainguns, 2 stun needle launchers/songbirds. Basically the most tanky thing possible. Except you don't need to "master" shit, you just roll over anything short of final bosses including all strongest "human" AC opponents.

It might be a bit boring to watch since that's the meta build but it's very fun to play since it's super satisfying to catch the enemy with a grenade or shotgun blast and then unload the rest into them while they're stunned. She'll be fine as long as she keeps trying to alter it here and there.

That's mostly a problem in Ayre fight and that has less to do with weapon choice and more with the boss itself. Everything else eats shotgun blasts and grenades just fine. Oh and for Ibis you just equip the stun needle launcher or two of them, it can't dodge those and it has very little HP so you can win DPS race in under a minute.

Speaking of AC, how to get S ranks? It says conserve ammo and don't waste time, right? I've been practicing on that "destroy trainer AC" mission and B is the best I can get. Even if I kill him under a minute and with like 20% damage. My guess is that wasting ammo is just THAT important and I shouldn't spam rockets if most of them don't hit the target anyway.

Most builds I make don't survive the "Ayre" test. Partially because I am much better at tinkering with mechs in the lab than at using them but still, this one steamrolled by far the hardest opponent in the entire game which isn't something I managed to get before even with the builds that are generally considered "OP".
