Hey it's me again from 2 threads ago >>5329538
With the dumb monkey vtuber.

I really loved the other monkey's redesign so I used most of it. With a tiny bit of my old stuff.
I also tired listing to that other anon about the triadic colour scheme, since I still wanted more colour.
So I came up with stickers based on Mr. artworks. They are on his face too, because you know, dumb.

I think I'm done with it, but anymore criticism is always helpful.
He's dumb monkey, that looks like his from 2000-20013.

PNG or default facerig? I see benefits of both.
PNG I can just draw whatever the fuck I feel like before a stream and slap it on there. Gives it some uniqueness and variety since I can actually be assed to draw an image daily but not to rig it (because I suck at drawing)
But default rig while default still shows off emotion more and it gives some movement to keep that feeling of a real person.

It’s like going to an interview; you want to be early. If you’re early, you’re actually on time. If you arrive just before the deadline, that’s basically the same as being late. The ones who REALLY want in would have applied during the first week. Essentially, it measures applicants’ enthusiasm and motivation. As for the male wave, they just don’t seem to have finalized designs so there’s a chance for the person who actually makes it in to have some degree on input on the design, lore and so on.

can i share some soft statistical advice?

90-ish% of 'successful' Vtubers are women.
most good WesternVtubers have very niche markets. the only ones who have made competitive numbers are the ones who have joined a company, or brought over followers from a Twitter camp.
also, the Vtuber market, esp. in the west, is flooded by 'chat whores' who have no focus to their channel other than to converse w' Chat.
.....not a great model for any channel.
It's not a bad idea, but the market is flooded with video gamers.
--------------------------------------------
My advice:
--Do it for fun, and have a focus
OR
--Gather a team
OR
--Be a woman with great vocal skills and a funny personality.
DON'T just put up some anime face and chat with the peeps who come to watch.
do something.

>> No.5550815

>>5550627
>be a woman
Shitty advice. Even if women are the most successful we're still talking 1:10000 that get any decent amount of views. They need luck and some level of charisma to keep that spot.

Despite what people claim, most male wannabes are fucking garbage at streaming. Being better at doom is not going to make you popular.

>> No.5551166

>>5550627
Speaking as someone with several years of experience in the twitch streaming scene, most indie vtubers still follow the same content model as the big company chuubas even while avoiding the general idol pitfalls, so most of them only attract other indies to watch them (because they are inspired by the same content) or are trying to pull viewers away from people who are massively more successful than them (because they're using the same content model).
If you want to get a bigger outside audience instead of trying to pull small groups of people from each other, be entertaining in your own way, find a niche you can work well with, try to plant yourself in other communities, create content that's hard to find anywhere else. Be clickbaity.

>> No.5551185

>>5550815
> They need luck and some level of charisma to keep that spot.

The issue with that is what's considered "watchable" for a female isn't the same for a male. Since the demographic is primarily male looking for girl streamers (and im guesisng even the girls are watching girls for the most part), what they're looking for is a lot different.

You take a shy, nervous, clumsy, goofy person interested in retro games or farming sims and pop out both a male and a female, viewers are going to skew towards the female streamer because those are traits that have more value when you're a girl.

For the most part, no one wants a shy dude that gets nervous in front of a crowd or geeks out about their favorite game, being funny or likeable are probably the two best traits for any male streamer, but those are a lot harder to do because for a lot of people they don't come as naturally as the traits guys like to see in girls.

What do you mean? That's some of the most viewed content on Twitch. There's a reason the "Just Chatting" section is as large as it is. People are looking for the para-social Friend/Boyfriend/Girlfriend experience, you just have to provide a personality to go alongside it. Why do you think VShojo and other larger vtubers pump out so much react/chatting content? It's the easiest to do and the most sought after.

Despite what you claim, shy autistic girls aren't popular either. They're quiet and get dropped immediately.
It's girls who know what people like and pretend to be the right level of "shy" while having literally no problems talking and communicating with people while.making funny jokes.

While not PNGtubers. YouTubers making a videos with png mascots is not new and the most popular and prevenlant have always been men.

I get what you're trying to say, but you're horribly mistaken. It's not that girls have it easier, they just flood the market and the average girl has 100x the social skills as the average male. the reason the Just Chatting section is massively popular isn't because that's what people want, it's because literally any streamer can do a Just Chatting stream at any time regardless of what their main content is, and the audience for those are dedicated viewers who want to get closer to the streamer, and are likely drawn in by other content they create or are being heavily pandered to like with titty streamers.

I've been thinking strongly about applying for Nijisanji recently but a couple factors are really holding me back. I would want to be able to present and entertain with high energy to keep things active, but I really don't want my roommate or neighbors to ever overhear me while I'm streaming. This goes double if there is literally any degree of attempted singing or roleplaying involved.
I have little to no experience with streaming, singing or roleplaying but I really do want to try because for all I know I could be okay, but the embarrassment factor is scaring me off.
I know there is appeal to calm, lower energy streams and I would be very interested in doing those but I feel that there is a strong need to be able to bring energy and excite viewers. I don't want to just whisper into a mic for hours.
What are the best options for soundproofing apartment rooms, or are there any consistently calm and low energy vtubers or even regular streamers who I could look to for styles that don't make a lot of noise but still can entertain viewers?

If you are simply going to be recording yourself, exploit the features of that medium that a streamer doesn’t have. Think about it logically, why would someone watch your unedited gameplay when they could watch the exact same thing BUT with chat and interaction?

So you gotta think of what you have that a streamer doesn’t, and that ultimately boils down to editing.

You can edit clips, cut out silence or pauses or long moments of boring gameplay. You can add in sound effects and music, like maybe you get jumpscared and you can add a stinger, or maybe something funny in the game happens and you can add in a funny sound effect to go with it. If you’ve ever watched Mr. Sark, his entire audio is highly edited and sounds very different from the raw recordings. He manages audio levels and makes it sound perfect. He’s honestly a great example of the type of editing that you can achieve with simple gameplay footage, but I’m just spitballing. Another clever let’s player I saw made his entire series somewhat educational, for example. The gameplay itself was highly edited, but on top of that he kept adding his own knowledge of the game into the video, like he’d talk about its lore and the real life inspirations taken by the developers and the development hell it went through, always cutting to photos or behind-the-scenes footage of a prototype of the game or something.

You have the potential to make streamlined polished content, but only if you exploit the fact your content is all pre recorded. But from the sounds of it, you merely want to be a streamer without the hassle of streaming.

Of course you won’t get in if you don’t apply. What harm is it in just doing it and treating it as a “it’ll be great if it happens but if not, okay I’m not at the right place yet!”

This feels like a really stupid question, but I figured someone would know

When streaming, I get that you have to mute the in-game music, unless you've got a broadcast license. And just because you have that, you might not have a license for the VOD, so you might need to split audio inputs for the two.

What about voicelines?

If I'm playing Skyrim, for example, do I need to have the whole thing muted, or are the voicelines safe?

I'm assuming the background sounds (rustling bushes, water, etc) all fall under DMCA as well?

it depends on the game and youtube/twitch, most games without real-world music you don't have to mute anything
it's an issue for ones like cyberpunk2077, GTA5, and Fallout:NV since those have real world copyright songs. Background music and soundtracks made specifically for games don't count. You aren't getting DMCA strikes for playing Celeste if it picks up the music

Take some voice lessons, if you can. You'll learn proper breathing, support, clearer enunciation, etc. These all translate into better speaking, too. I hesitate to recommend trying to do this in an asymmetrical online format, though (i.e. just watching YouTube videos) because having that one on one feedback from a coach is really valuable. Developing proper breathing techniques is one of the best things you can do, in my opinion. And if in doubt, slow down.

Now, if it's the sound of your own voice you dislike when you hear it played back, voice lessons won't change that. I sing professionally and don't particularly like the sound of my own voice, and that's normal. No one really likes the sound of their own voice. With time and exposure, you get over that stumbling block, and learn how to use your voice most effectively.

I wonder if I have a chance to make it to the second phase. I have around 9 years of content creation with my art, but it's only a small hobby for me (I'm not on Ina's level). I don't have many followers despite posting for so many years since I only draw what I like and don't accept many art commissions. I'm pretty decent at art- at least better than Finana. I also have been streaming since 2018, though not frequently (my last stream was several months ago). I usually streamed my art though since it got the most interest.

I have all the skills needed to be a VTuber and I'm confident in my skills and ability to entertain people for long periods of time. I also know what exactly my target audience is and niche to fill (even Nijisanji doesn't have a VTuber that always fills it), but there's just this voice in the back of my mind that just says it's pointless to apply because there's someone out there that's more qualified. They streamed more, they posted art longer, they're better at art, etc.

I've applied to small companies before and got rejected (5 times), but made it to the second phase once. If I can't pass those auditions, I don't dare to raise my hopes up that I'll pass Niji's. I'm just doom posting, sorry.

I'll probably resume streaming again in a few days to put out some more content before making my audition. I guess if I failed 5 times before, another try won't hurt.
