It's lazy as shit but that doesn't mean it's bad content. If the video is good, you're still watching a good video, with some additional commentary from someone you like. Well, sometimes commentary, a lot of react streamers don't even do that much.

I don't get it either, but apparently people really want that. Many of these streamers don't do it because they're lazy, they do it because react shit gets better numbers than game streams for some reason. I've seen many streamers slowly go from no react content to more and more react content over the years, because it attracts more viewers.

I hate it.

Because it brings in views to their platform.
It's especially noticeable when larger streamers react to small youtubers. It gives them a noticeable boost they wouldn't have had otherwise, which in turn means views that wouldn't have gone to the platform anyway.

The content creator reflects the audience. If the audience accepts lazy content, the content creator will provide lazy content because it's simply the path of less resistance, it's a shame but it's the truth.

Because youtube and youtubers can actually profits off of this. They have no icentive to stop it.
There's a youtuber I sometimes watch, Josh Strife Hayes, who was a low-view youtuber for years until Asmongold starting reacting to his videos. He got a HUGE boost from that and now, 1-2 years later, he's closing in on a million subs. His content was always good, he just didn't get picked up by the algorithm. All he needed was exposure.

Josh already said that his views goes down every time Asmon react to it, not only that Asmon made more money from Josh videos, than Josh without putting any of the work. https://youtu.be/FKPX2UpDBto?t=89

I would much much rather watch a girl react to a video than a videogame, the video can at least be enjoyed in the background without watching, it can be interesting or fun.
With games usually they fall on three categories:
Games I already played (watching them is boring)
Games I haven't played but want to watch (I won't watch it because it would spoil me)
Games I have not played and don't care about playing (why would I care about watching them?)
On top of that gameplay is way more fun and less interactive, they are pressing buttons and doing shit in the game but that doesn't translate to anything in the stream.
At least commentary reaction to videos offers more. And often they can interact with the chat, this is a skill factor tho some vtubers cannot interact for shit while others are real pros at it.
Content wise I'd say original content is top tier, karaoke is high tier, react is mid tier and games are low tier.

I believe that, but it's also true that Josh got big because he got exposure from Asmon and Josh himself has said several times that he is aware of that.
A huge streamer reacting to a small youtuber can absolutely give that youtuber the needed exposure to finally make it big, but if the youtuber is already big and already picked up by the algorithm then the reacting starts doing harm.

nta but playing a videogame is like, inherently more demanging than just watching audiovisual content. it's as if you tried to imply talking and listening required the same amount of effort.

>> No.54478650

>>54477396
There is nothing that indicates Josh saw a bump in subscribers because of react content. It’s far more likely that he simply got picked up by the algorithm. Otherwise tons of channels would see similar growth when people like Asmon do react content (which Asmon does constantly and he watches plenty of quality channels) but this doesn’t happen. It is far more likely that Asmon steals more viewers from Josh than he ever “gave” him.

The reason lets plays are allowed to be a thing at all and aren’t viewed as copyright infringement is because a judge ruled that they are the product of the players input and lead to a unique experience, let’s plays are closer to art. React content requires no real human input and many of the most popular react channels react to copyrighted material that should get them banned from twitch, but twitch doesn’t punish big channels for anything so they can get away with it. The people who hurt the most are the YouTube channels that put in all this work and research for some of these videos that react streamers just make faces over.
