I assume they will either break their rule of non-interference with old chunks, or spawn bedrock walls. Currently the snapshots have no upgrade path so we don't know yet.
I would PREFER if they left the void open because it'd be cool as fuck, but that ain't happening. Imagine making a base above the void in old chunks.
If they went with the updating old chunks, they could replace the current bedrock with stone and simply spawn bedrock at the usual location. I would hope they do it this way at least because if they don't and leave it up to natural generation, there's a chance some bedrock builds could get utterly shit on if a cave spawned right through your build.
This would be particularly bad if your build had breakable / flammable blocks near or on the bedrock.

No, because the EN server is a shitty Realms server. They'd need to take it off there and get a dedicated host, but yes they could do that.
The resource server isn't a server in this case though, it's just another world on the same server. It's the same reason the issues with the End happened where people respawned in the End, a thing that is not supposed to happen.
The plugin they use has support for portals between separate servers as well.
It's a little fiddly to do, but once it's done it works solid.

The ping has proven to really not matter much. It's like, on the surface seems like a valid worry like "oh damn that could be a problem couldn't it" but, on looking at if it actually matters for any Holos? Nope. I mean, shouldn't it be a thing for Kiara and Mori already right now, since they're over in Japan? Has it ever really been an impediment, or even noticed at all by them generally? No. Not at all.

Haachama built up some of the most complicated structures on the server all with ping from Australia. You could see it presenting itself sometimes, when there was lag/jittery skipping riding on railways and such. But it hasn't stopped her one bit from making full use of the server. Same can be said for IDs; Moona's entire Holo career was catapulted from the JP server and she's playing from Indonesia.

EN's little fucking $8 a month Realm really just won't ever match up to JP server. This is not to denigrate the work they've put in on the EN server, they've done a lot for being just 5 people (of which only some of them really play). However, their numbers just cannot compare to the dozens on the JP server, even with an EN 2 they will still be years behind as JP expands. The question of "but JP solved everything for resources" is basically irrelevant as many major things are now farmed on EN now anyway. Do the ENs have to be in self-imposed exile for the rest of time? Or can they re-approach the game to be more of a meta-interaction thing with Holo, like how it really generally is for JP/ID? If there is consideration to restart the JP server they absolutely ought to try to get EN to join in this time as well. It was painful seeing EN literally forgotten for the Undokai event; I doubt they would have been if they were already used to playing on the JP server.

I doubt it. It only costs them $0.096 per GB of storage per month. If they reallocated the money they spent for the realms subscription of $7.99, then they can get an extra ~83GB of storage. That is a lot of extra space for just a Minecraft world.

That's the point of the resource server. It constantly gets reset so you do not have to travel far out to get resources.

No, that requires turning off online mode, so that the server does not verify their account. This is not possible to do on a realms server. Realms servers also do not have a static ip which complicates things. Technically you could use an API key from one of their accounts to get the ip periodically, but there is not an out of the box way to do it.
