This is essentially a blog-post, so tell me to fuck off haha.

I'm with a company and I'm waiting to debut.
I have friends in Japan who are successful vtubers but I'm westerner and I will always be that to them even if we are friends. Because of this I've been trying to make friends in western spheres, so I joined an ENVtuber discord server under an alt account to get to know them before I come in as my actual chuuba but so far, they're the biggest bunch of snowflakes I've ever met on the internet and start drama at the drop of the hat. Crying about invalidating pronouns because someone told them "everyone on the internet is a guy" as a joke and being super super sensitive and dislikeable "male moe characters are for pedophiles!", and I just don't know what to do or even where to go to connect with people. If you're starting up, I thought you would try and be likeable or even charismatic to network but these people are just.. the bottom of the barrel.

On Twitter, most indies seem to be about leeching numbers and on discord, they're mainly vtweeters with 0 talent or a likeable personality. I'm not sure what to do here. To be honest, I'm lonely and setting up to do this as a full-time thing is scary. Self-doubt is normal, but I'm reincarnating and I have horror images in my mind of 4 people being there for my debut.

I'm the only one in my generation, but I love my company a lot.

I'm already on a payroll for a company and they care enough to make me want to try my absolute hardest, they have legitimate sponsers and investors and they're really aiming for something high. I know in likelihood we're going to be overlooked because of the market oversaturation and being a start-up, but what is shaking my confidence even more, is that these EN people who are aspiring vtubers are just horrendous and it makes me wonder if I'll be forever alone in the industry.

VTubing's a popular right now, trend-chasers and the like are naturally going to be drawn in. I'd recommend looking at /wvt/ and some of the other indie tubers that get attention here and see who they network with. Even if you don't want to interact with anyone from here directly, most probably share your sentiments and already interact with outsiders who might be more your speed.

You might be able to fuck some stuff on mix it up if you try hard enough and can html/css a layout. It can store information in a text file that counts up each time something happens. Though how to get their "poll" input from a follow is kinda impossible. I don't see how "follow and say x" would really work. You could make a command choice that's available only to followers to choose one and make the individual cooldown to forever. If you're part of a company, don't do this. You need to be looking to already established vutbers. they don't need to be big names, but almost no one in /wvt/ has anything of any real quality, it's just some nice soulful niche stuff with most of the viewers outside the big ones being friend groups and other /asp/ies, with the occasional /wvt/ viewer pod. Look to normal already established vtubers. They don't have to be huge, but people who already have an audience. You're wasting your time and threatening your ability to really grow if you're associating what i assume is decent quality assets with these low quality streamers

Learn to speak your mind with a decent filter. Whatever you're playing at least narrate it and your thoughts. If there's anything in particular you plan on doing mention it and why, for example if you're playing shit tier games like valorant or apex then stuff like explaining why you chose a certain gun as you're playing is good to start from. Unless you need a breather or just want to have a relaxed moment keep just saying what you're doing an embellish it, tangents will come naturally as you suddenly remember something whilst you're talking.

I just kinda want to come online and vent/gush for a bit

I've been thinking about streaming for years, but never did it. There's a multitude of reasons behind why not, but I finally sacked up and spent $35 on a two-set of PNG. Having spent out, even if it's on a cheap model and nothing else, I couldn't back down.

Over the last few days, I've typed up a bio, got socials working, posted on them, and set-up all the streaming works. By no means is it a professional looking set-up, but I'm not just another vtuber using the stock VRoid model.

And so... There was nothing left to do. I knew what I wanted to play for my first set of streams (hunting down a rare achievement), I had everything set-up, and I had a free evening.

So I did it. Three and a half hours later, and I can't believe how little went wrong. It didn't take off, but I wasn't expecting it to, so everything kind of went as hoped.

And then I screwed up the raid. Didn't check their stream as I was setting it up, and they were already rolling end-credits. Felt like such an idiot.

Don't do something long-winded.

Play a game YOU know in detail, that you can go into the minutia of, and that you can fully explain all your decisions for. Ideally, you want a game that doesn't have deadtime.

Skyrim/Oblivion would be terrible for you - all the travel time you can't narrate through unless you're just talking about your life, which you've said you can't do.

On the other hand, something like EU4 would have constant decision making, even if it isn't massively interesting for people to watch, it'll get your feet wet.

You had the right idea on dropping the rainbow hair. The yellow-green can work well with the red, but consider throwing in some cyan somewhere to make a nice triadic colour scheme. My first thought was on the eyes, but then he'd be giving super saiyan vibes. Whatever the case just make sure to bring the sort of high energy someone would expect from a character like this.

I like the design and concept. But I would like to make a few suggestions if that's okay?

Like your hat perplexed me abit. Is it an apple bottom? Maybe make it a big billed hat! Those were very instyle and hip around the time you are inspired by as well as bellbottoms.
I would also like to suggest maybe playing around with your colors more.
I think what touched me most was the color yellow/green you chose. It reminds me of bananas that aren't ready yet. Was that your intention? If so it's very good and ignore me. I'm silly.

Honestly if you were thinking of going rainbow color, there's a way TO do it that may work for you. But it's not going to be solid rainbow.

Also what's the microphone for? Are you a singer? Or are you a comedian? Or are you just LOUD.

ALSO, here's the idea I had for rainbow hair. Instead of having a solid rainbow hair. Have a base hair that you can have shift colors. Like an emotive accessory.
Also, I would like to formally suggest changing the hair color from the color that it is to a pale yellow for a few raisins.
1. Pale yellow looks like fruit flesh, like banana insides or apples.
2. it's easy to look at.
3. It will pop more when the emotive hair is activated.

And you wouldn't have to call yourself a dumb monkey. But a emotional mood monkey. Like a mood ring.

by doing this you get a blingee feel. And you can pair it with other toggleable emotes for all sorts of emotions.

i wish there was a way to search for live2d riggers based on price. everything sub $300 looks like absolute shit. you can tell they just spent a weekend messing around and decided they could take advantage of the vtuber bandwagon to make a quick buck. perspectives are all fucked up, angles are horrible, their demo reels are just slapstick anime reactions pasted on top instead of actual animations (you don't even get full range of motion, mouth shapes, and eye tracking)

if you don't have fun and are in it just for the fame and success you're going to get burnt the fuck out on streaming after about 2 months when you realize you only have 50 followers and 15-20 regular viewers
because building a community is so slow unless you're a god at viral marketing or have a decent money backing, you're never going to have that rocket to the moon type of success, the bigs only get it because they have an org pushing them upwards and dropping 6-7 figures a year on advertising and viral marketing to get there

there's a big reason why almost every vtuber out there has a humanoid appearance is because at the end of the day, you're literally just a streamer. you are there to provide entertainment.

with face cam streaming you can be there to create a collective sense of emotion and reaction with the content you're watching (playing a game, watching funny videos, doing a zatsudan, etc.) but the core part is that you're still sharing a relatable experience with the viewers.

if your eyes are hidden, then you've only got your mouth shapes and your voice, nothing else the viewer sees can convey expressions. if you've got peak comedian skills (voice, inflections, timing, wit) you can pull off something like pic related, even if it's just a simple puppet. but that's near professional levels of talent.

don't debuff yourself anymore than you need to, it's already hard enough to be vtuber.

Because you're smoothbrained and are confusing what causes what. They're popular because they're going out and networking/collabing more, but in their case they're doing it so they can get more access to be creeps. Just create good content, but also network well. Don't be a creep.

Okay, then you're in clip. Put a symmetrical ruler down on a blank layer, then use the object grabber to select it and in the info panel put it to exactly at half the pixels of your width of your canvas. Right click the little ruler icon on the layer and check "Show on all Layers". Body, eyes, if you're keeping with that hoodie should all by symmetrical. Make a general symmetrical guide for the hair shapes, then you can turn off the ruler layer and draw your non-symmetrical objects. It's easier to draw together for most stuff then cut out the right and left pieces or separate layers. Remember to pad out stuff like the neck so when the head eventually moves you have more of the neck showing. Things like that.
